Spinervals, RealRides, Sufferfest... anyone have any insight on how useful/useless training videos are for riders to use on the trainer this winter?

Any recommendations on a particular "brand" or series?

There's a great series that will get you through 12 hours of indoor riding: Lord of the Rings - The Trilogy (Extended Editions).

And I hear there's a supplemental series that will be completely out in the next year and a half in case you want to do a 24 hour session of indoor riding.

THE HOBBIT in 18 days!!!!!! Got my tickets already! Booyeah!

Definitely appreciate both of them.

More specifically, cycling-focused training videos...

the Sufferfest videos are awesome - totally brutal (if you actually follow the prompts), with decent visuals and music.

Any WWE video for sure, especially Hell in a Cell matches. Tuan and I have a huge collection of these.

WWE rules. CM Punk is the BEST IN THE WOOOORRRRLD!

But I recommend GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE.

Or Godzilla 1985

Or Godzilla vs King Ghidorah

Or Godzilla vs Mothra

Or Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla

Or Godzilla vs Destoroyah

Or Ultraman/Ultraseven

Or Iron King. AAAAIAAAANNN KKKKINNGGUUU!!!!

O wait, you might catch a person riding a bike frantically to get away from Godzilla or Ultraman/Ultraseven/Iron King's enemies (while screaming in utter dread), so actually it IS cycling related!

I hated spinverals when I tried them out. I don't want to watch a whole bunch of people on spin bikes with campy 80's music and a guy yelling at him. Sufferfest is a lot easier on the ears and makes me want to push harder. And the random quirky bits of British humour is welcomed when all you want to do is knell over and melt into the floor.

I'm with Cat. I really like the Sufferfest videos. The whole set up of the Spinervals DVDs stink - especially the awful music.

Trainer rides are fun, but lets face it, competition gets the juices going better than stationary trainer. I'd suggest some of the Cycle Life classes in DC as well. Having that video monitor and people beside you riding makes it more intense and IMO. A better workout. There's no real reason to be on a trainer this time of year for longer than 2 hours or so if you make it count...if you can't do that, the Sufferfest video's are pretty cool. Not *quite* as cool as alot of people make them out to be, but not cheesey music either.
