Hi Everyone - Nice to know riders are out riding like Santa.

I'll see you guys in Georgetown (Intersection of Wisconsin and M facing the Key Bridge) at 9:20am this Saturday.

By the way, I'm a slow rider and I'm going long...Thinking about a 56 mile loop.

Speeds everyone is going at?

The speed of the ride is sort of variable depending on who shows up. Generally, this is one of the faster club group rides. with avg. speeds up to 22-24 mph. Keep in mind, this speed is a little inflated because it's group riding in a pace line.

If the fast folks don't show up to pull at the front, average speed usually drops down to about 19-21. It also slows down in the off-season a little thanks to the extra insulation.

How do you define 'slow rider?' Are you comfortable riding tight on someone else's wheel? That will help you increase your speed.

I'll likely only go to Great Falls which ends up at ~40 miles from Cap Hill.

Check the first post of this thread for more complete details and route maps if you haven't already. Sounds like you want to go a bit further than me so you'll want to make sure you have a good grasp of the route if you don't already.

On another note, there is a small push from Phil to start at 8:30 with a 9:20 roll through Gtown. Would you guys all prefer that? If so, I'll saddle up and get out the door if I'm in the minority.

You should make Phil start later to give everyone a fair head start.

Im out on the weekend and Monday, but Im here and off work the rest of the week so will ride any weekday if anyone wants to. Looks like the weather should be nice all week.

Well, I'm doing a 60 mile ride and I'm hoping to do it at about 17-18mph.

I'll try to hang with you guys for as long as it takes and then I'll play the rest out.

We'll see how it goes...

Cool, I'd be up for a Tue/Thurs AM ride this week out to Great Falls or beyond to work off the trash can turkey.
