As much as I would like to meet the group for the first time this week, it is looking unlikely that I will be able to join you this time. I will be back in town in a few weeks so looking forward to the next time! Have a great ride!
Also in unless it's raining or rain is imminent.
Great ride this weekend! I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who was suffering from some dead legs when we got home.
Taking a poll for this weekend: There is a ride being organized out at Mt. Weather for Saturday. Clip in by 10am for the ~60 mile loop that includes the famed Mt. Weather. If you want to check out the details, follow this thread
Anyone interested in heading out there or would you rather keep the ride rolling out MacArthur this week?
I think the extra hills were a hit this week so count on that route for the standard 40-mile route. Two minor updates as we continue to improve the ride:
- When leaving the BP to head back to Oaklyn Dr., let's ride down the sidewalk and get on the road at the stoplight near the French bakery. I don't want anyone getting hit by a car while trying to ride over the median.
-When we come down off of the Mass. Ave. hill and turn left back on to MacArthur, we will regroup for the trip back into the city at the DC line (Near Sibley) as opposed to the gas station near Sangamore.
I would love to join the Mt. Weather ride, but I have a friend in town and can't ditch for that long. :) I might be able to get away with a couple of hours out MacArthur. Keep me posted!
I'm in on Saturday. Georgetown at 8:30. Headed to Poolesville if anyone one else is interested.
Also in for this Saturday. Will be in Georgetown. Heading to the T and then back on Glen.
I'm in for Poolesville.
I'll be at the hill at 8:10.
I just read this article about why the gas at the Watergate Exxon is priced so highly.
Famously Expensive Gas
It's still crazy.
I'm in for the ride and skipping Mt. Weather this week. What's so hard about a little hill, anyway?
I'm going to plan to hit Poolesville. Probably won't head out with the lead group if they are as fast this week. Need to save some gas for the trip home.
Here is a clean map of the route with hills: Poolesville Route »
Remember, if you get dropped on the way out MacArthur, skip the Mtn. Gate and Great Falls Park hills and plan to meet up at the BP.
8:10 at 8th and Penn. SE, 8:30 at Georgetown.
And Kip, 8:30 is different than 8:31 ;-)
I would like to meet up with you guys tomorrow morning. I'm near Glen Echo Park. What's my best bet for recognizing the group? I figure you guys pass at about 8:45-8:50. I would just look for DCTRI jersey's but it seems every group I see has a few of them (that's a good thing). Thanks for any tips.
Going for 85 from the hill. I'll stay with the others till Poolesville and then split off. I plan on skipping the extra hills on MacArthur on the way out.
Is anyone having trouble viewing my link above with the Poolesville Route? Someone mentioned they were having issues and I want to know if it's a problem with the link and maybe the privacy issues.
Was having trouble, but now it works, tho the link still cuts off in my browser: "...Poolsville". Odd.
The link works fine from the website. The forum uses BBCode, which doesn't translate well to the email notifications. If I get an post notification to my email, the links never work properly.
I'm in as well. First time joining the ride and looking forward to it! I'll be at G-town.
I see that there may be a 16-19mph group starting. Has it started? I'd be interested in joining that group. If anyone knows, please let me know!
Hey all... I'm new to the area and eager to get involved in group workouts. I love Sat morning group rides. At this early point in the season I think I'd probably fall into the 16-19 mph group. I saw the first post on this thread, but has a 16-19 mph group developed just yet? I'll eventually be able to hang with the 20+ group, but probably not yet. Thanks!
It looks like we've got at least two folks in the 16-19 group now!
The last couple of weeks it's been a group of ~10 riders going in the 20-22 range but I anticipate the group to continue to grow each week and hopefully include a couple of pace groups.
We would like 16-19 group to get a little larger so maybe some more people will chime in now that we have a couple of takers. When we get closer to Saturday, I'll see what I can do to moderate the riders going out there based on who says they are going to show up.
Thanks for posting your speed on this... It makes it a lot easier to keep everyone happy!
Thanks Travis. I will be in Boston for the marathon this weekend, but look forward to these group rides going forward.
I would also be interested in a 16-19 group. I will not be around this weekend but for future Sat rides I think I need to start there.
