Yeah- what Bob said! Thanks for the big welcome from everyone and a great ride on Saturday from another B/BB group newbie. Looking forward to next week!

I'd be up for a long ride on Saturday in the 16-19 mph range. Anything from 25-50 miles would be good! I live in Rosslyn - let me know where to meet you all. theresaferry at yahoo dot com

Hi everyone,

I'm out for this week and will be racing on fat tires instead.

If you're new to the ride, just post your speed/distance goals to make sure there is someone to join in with you. All the ride info you'll need can be found in the original post on this thread.

If you have any questions, please post them.

Have a good ride!

Travis is racing this:

I'm doing it too. I think the key to doing a 24 hour adventure race is knowing that you can only "race" if you know where you're going.

We'll be wishing we were on the familiar roads of MacArthur and River as we slog through the wilds of the Shenandoah.

I would like to do a 40-50ish mile ride at the B group pace. See you on Saturday at Wisconsin and M.

I'll normally be with the Saturday 16-19 mph group, but I'm attending a church function this week. I didn't realize there is also a Sunday ride. I might join that one this week. Is there a thread with the details on that one?

It's tuan's ride - the verticle swimmer. I suggest emailing him at

number55555@yahoo.co?m

I have a heck of a time navigating through this site. Tuan just sends emails about the rides each week. Clean and simple.

So, what's the deal about the saturday rides. If I'm at wisconsin and m street at that bank at 8:30, will i be able to jump into the group?

I'll be out this weekend. Planning to go to the T. I'll be at G'town a little before 8:30A.

Looks like we'll have another good showing for the B group.

I think an 8:30A meet up time seemed to work well timing wise for both groups to sync up at the BP. I'm guessing this was due to the chase group going straight through at Mountain Gate (mile 15-17) and at the park (~mile 19-20). The route map to Great Falls and back can be found here. The G'town pick up is just before mile 5 on the map.

Also, for those turning back after the BP, I'd recommend taking a right out of the station onto River and another right (~1/2 mile up) onto Permission Tree back to MacArthur instead of back-tracking to Oaklyn and having to make the 2 left turns across traffic.

Travis/Phil - hope you make the 26 hour cut off!

For those interested in riding longer I am doing 100. Should be rolling by Gtown at 8:15 or so. Planned route here http://connect.garmin.com/course/899572

(The Xterra event may be Travis's (or anyone's) best chance to outpace DoggyBrown--by hiding the latter's GPS before the orienteering leg...)

Think it would be fun to ride over to Hains to watch some of the du, then head over to Gtown for the A/B ride.

I'll be getting out for the morning ride- starting from Cap Hill and meeting up at 8:30 in G-town. Look forward to seeing anyone that comes out. For those doing the club DU- careful with the stop signs... rather with the cops monitoring the stops.

Hey all... the front has been quiet about a ride this weekend. Are there any other B riders going this weekend? Or anyone, for that matter? And what's the route? I might have to do a truncated version of the route so it'd be good to see it ahead of time. Thanks!

I'll be out there riding with the A group but can only make it out to Great Falls and back with little to no stopping. I have to be in Philly by 2:00.

Routes will be some variation of the routes listed on the original post based on your personal mileage needs.

Many people will be in Columbia for the brick-nic so it may be a small group this week.

I'll be in the A group and am riding.

Here's my plan if anyone wants in. One solid 30 minute interval. Good prep for San Diego or just good to get some strength in your legs.

7:10 Roll out from 8th and Penn (Capitol Hill)
7:30 Pickup at Wisc and M (Georgetown)
Roll out with the group till the reservoir. On the downhill after the light, I'm going to ramp it up for a 30 minute interval, SKIPPING mountain gate (too hard to keep the effort steady) and DOING the backside of the Great Falls loop.

It's been a while since I've done this, so I forget if 30 mins takes you to the BP or partway to the T. If anyone can remember, let me know. But basically I'm going to ride along that route until 30 mins are up and then reassess. Will probably turn around and cruise back home.

Company would be AWESOME.

If anyone is interested on an earlier time, I'm going to start riding at 7:10 from Cap Hill (7:30 G-town). Hopefully we can get a group together. This will be a standard start time (every week), and might even get earlier when it's nicer out (like roll through G-town at 7).

For this week in particular I'll be watching the rain though- and might go Sunday if Saturday is washed out.

I could be convinced to start this week at 7:10. I'm going to need the extra hour if I can get it to get up to Philly.

Also in for Sunday in the event of a rain out.

Good, I'm glad someone else wants to start from the hill at 7:10. I've gotta get in 80+, so I'll be there.
