I'm in for the TT this week with a follow up spin up as far as Great Falls. Or, if we're feeling saucy, Eric and I could be convinced to take you up and down some hills.
Either way, see you at the time trial.
Looking forward to the TT + Great Falls ride!
There are a handful of us that aren't doing the TT so are just sticking with the normal Saturday morning ride. 7:40 Capitol Hill/8:00 Georgetown.
Predicted temperature in Potomac at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow: 33 degrees. Where did that come from?
I will probably meet you in Georgetown.
That was my thought on the weather. I'm heading out later in the day.....too cold for me.
Recent images of the potomac river:
Wes and I are planning to head out to Skyline on Sunday if anybody's interested in riding in more reasonable temps.
Shooting for a 7:30 AM clip in from Spelunkers. Should be 50'F to start with temps climbing into the 70's! Shooting for an epic century ride.
I'm in for a Saturday ride to Great Falls. 7:40 from the Hill, 8:00 from G-town.
The time trial has been rescheduled for Sunday so we can all do both rides. There is a team time trial option and I encourage some of you to put together a team of three to beat my team of Eric Goetz, Ryan Troll and myself.
Ryan insists that no on in the club is strong enough to beat us. I think he's just being arrogant but I guess you'll have to sign and and challenge us to find out who is correct.
Thanks for a great ride today. So much for slowing down in the off-season... It seems to me like everyone is still getting faster.
Also, thanks for waiting up for Joe and I to arrive in G-Town this morning. I was running a couple of minutes late and then missed Joe so it took us a few more minutes to reconnect.
Hopefully I'll see some of you out at the time trial tomorrow. It's the final TT of the year so come on out and put some burning into your quads.
Is the time trial tomorrow limited to teams, or can you ride solo?
You can definitely do individual. I think Eric, Ryan and I are the only ones to form a team. If that's the case, we'll probably just ride solo.
Also, here is the Garmin from today's ride. We've been adding the Mohican hill. To see the route, we turn onto Mohican on the way back in on MacArthur. It happens shortly after mile 30 on this route. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/235315076
I'm going to get a head start on this weekend.
I'll be out there - on time this week - and looking to do the same ride out to Great Falls as we did on Saturday. If there is enough interest in the T, I'll follow along but will still plan to put in all of the hills on the way back.
The forecast for this weekend is looking really good. It would be great to get an excellent showing from all of the groups that have been riding this season. It may be the last weekend with truly great weather of the year so let's take advantage of it and burn some calories in advance of the Kona viewing and any late night trick or treating that might be going on.
If the group is too large, we'll stagger starts for the A, B and C groups so we don't close down all of MacArthur. Regrouping at the BP as always with a finishing option of coffee at Dean & Deluca.
Haven't RSVPd for the Kona party yet? Do it here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/4509122908/
Not that we are shutting the ride down but some of you may starting backing off for the off-season so this seems like a good time to say thanks for such a good group of riders throughout the summer. Lots of new faces have become regulars this year and I think we've all benefited from some challenging miles and hard riding. Last week was proof that this group is getting fast.
See you Saturday!
I'll be out there on Saturday- looking for the same ride as you Travis, and the T would be great if there's interest.
I'm not sure I've ever ridden with this group - but I'm in for this week! I need to get in 6 hours but will probably ride for a bit on my trainer before since it will be dark... How long are you folks usually out there for? I'm aiming for 4 on the road - any takers?!?
I'm in! Only for a couple of hours though. I haven't been on my bike since Poconos!
Two hours at Courtney's speed should still be good for a trip to the T ;-)
Ellen, if we ride out to Seneca, it usually works out to ~3-3:30 for the group. If you're looking for 4 hours on the road, maybe you can wrangle some people to continue on to Poolesville with you.
Eric, I'm good for a ride to the T.
I am going to try to meet up with the group. 3-4 hours works for me.
I'm in for Poolesville. Ellen, Courtney you in?
Ha that would be real speedy Travis. I'll be sucking some wheels for some speed Sat.! Holli, I'm not sure I'll be up for going to Poolesville but I can be convinced to go to the T. :)
Looks like we should have a good group. I'm game to the T.
Think this will be my 2nd time on the bike since Half Full, so more than happy to be a gentleman and allow the ladies to ride up front!
