With the weather warming and the Freshbikes indoor spin sessions concluding after this Saturday, expect a bunch of other folks to begin showing up for these weekend rides again.
Great! Be there at 8. :)
I don't know what forecast Trevor is looking at... mine says 36 degrees at 8 am (with the 'real feel' temp at 31) ... since when is 36 'warm?'?? I would love to find a 'sane' group of folks willing to a) sleep in on a Sat morning, and b) go biking when it is ACTUALLY warm ... like around 11 am... same starting point, same route (to BP or even to the T) forecast: 48-52 degrees ... any takers? back by 2 at the latest
In for tomorrow. See you all in Gtown at 8:00/
I'm looking for buddies for an easy spin on Sunday after the 8k (so, 11:30/12:00). I'm looking to ride about 1:30, so likely to the BP and back, maybe a touch more.
Anyone available? Should be SUPER nice at that time on Sunday!
A small group from Silver Spring may be clipping in Sunday mid-day. Nothing crazy.
Still getting timing and people dialed in. Will post here though, if we get it together. -- TJ
Hey, looking to do this ride for the first time. What's the pace like? Also, where and when is the meet up exactly? It looks like it's a bit different than the event listing says. There it says 7:30 am at the corner of Wisconsin and M. Thanks
I'm reposting from a couple days ago:
the details are on The First Page of this thread, but the main meeting spot is at Wisconsin/M St in Georgetown in the PNC bank parking lot.
During the winter we meet at 8:00 at the PNC bank parking lot.
The Cap. Hill folks meet at 8th/Penn at 7:40 then roll through Georgetown.
More details are HERE if you're interested.
The Saturday Morning ride page has now been updated for winter times.
See you out there!
The Saturday Morning Club Ride Page has been modified to reflect current Winter ride times (0740 from Cap Hill/0800 from Georgetown)
Please keep yourselves in the loop by checking previous posts on when people will be meeting and where.
As daylight savings comes, the clip-in times will be earlier. Stay tuned.
Shoot, sorry, didn't answer your first question - the pace varies. There is no set pace for the club ride, which is great. We accept all riders of all paces. However, this is a DROPPED RIDE (though we don't like to). You're responsible for letting the group know if you're dropping, leaving, or leaving us in your dust to go on your own. That way we don't get worried and begin to shed tears as we search for you.
It's suggested when people post their "desired" speed when they say they're coming. The lead pack will push 20-23mph, the chase pack will follow around 20mph. We have a pretty good amount of folks in the 16-19 range, but please be sure to reach out and tell others what your desired pace is and pair up with like riders. Same goes for distance, as at certain points in the ride the group splits to make their ride longer/shorter.
No riding in aerobars IN the pack unless you are pulling in front or slightly off the back. Call out pot holes, obstructions, cars, everything. No matter how obvious you think it is. Don't roll through a stop light and lead the group into a dangerous scenario - Slow up and then regroup. If you're new to the ride, don't be intimidated to ask questions. We may not always appear very chipper early on a Saturday morning but we all want a safe, fun ride and are happy to answer questions. Bring your helmet and flat repair kit.
Hope this helps!
that helps a lot. thanks! see you tomorrow
I'm far less enthusiastic about riding outside on Saturday now that I'm seeing rain in the forecast.
Guess it's pain cave with Netflix.
The forecast looks great for a ride this week. I will be out riding on some trails instead of the road, though.
I'll take a look at the calendar and pick an upcoming Saturday to kick off the regular season Saturday rides. Hopefully we'll pick up where we left off last season with a couple of regular pace options.
I'm hoping this is the last cold weekend of the spring. I'll be at Capitol Hill @7:40 or 7th and Independence @ 7:45. I'm in for Eric's crazy hill ride.
I am looking to ride this Saturday, about 50 miles, but my Raynauds will not handle 40 degrees, so I am looking to leave after it warms up a bit, like 10:30 or 11.
Meeting at GTown, out to Turkeyfoot or something.... Let me know!
John-- I'll be leaving from the Hill at 7:40 and I believe Jenny will be too. See you then.
Grumble grumble... springtime... See you there.
I know some are headed out west to ride, but for any staying local, I'm planning on riding out to the T, with an 8 AM clip from G'town.
Hope to see some of you out there,
I'll be out west. Wishing that I was riding the familiar and shallow hills of MacArthur. Or maybe those hills haven't been quite familiar enough which is why I'm scared of the bigger hills.
I'll be riding locally as well and should probably reacquaint myself with the T. Brady, if I start complaining at the BP that it's cold, don't let me head home.
