I am new to the DC tri club. Is there a bike ride this saturday April 27? I am interested in the shorter distance, 16-19mph group. Thanks! --Pablo.
Hi Pablo, welcome!
This week the regular Saturday ride may be a bit thin due to a couple of other activities going on. The main one is the club's bricknic at Centennial Park in Columbia. More info. here »
It's a great park with excellent roads to ride on. Hop in on a ride up there and then get to know some people at the bbq. If you decide to go, just show up and let people know that you are new and they'll help you get acclimated. Also, please be sure to bring your own cue sheet just in case you get separated for a bit.
I am looking to ride this saturday and hop on at Georgetown. I have to work later in the day so I cannot head to the Bricknic unfortunately. Will people still be riding around this area? I am looking to ride 40-50 miles.
I'll be in G-town at 8. I've got to be home by 10 so i'll be cutting it a little short.
I've never ridden this group ride before but am in a similar boat that I can't do the bric nic, even tho it sounds epic. Don't really want to go longer than 40 and would prefer to push the pace a bit. Are there different groups heading out this week? I can meet in Gtown.
I plan to do the GTown ride this weekend; the shorter distance.
Anyone planning to ride around 17-18mph for 50-60? That's what i need to do tomorrow.
Does anyone riding saturday have a cue sheet? I have not done the saturday group ride so I unfortunately do not know the route.
Check the very first post of the thread for route maps/cue sheets for the various distances.
I may be out there for a modified hill ride but I'm still figuring out my schedule for tomorrow so can't commit to anything yet. Looks like a pretty small group for this week due to the bricknic but glad to see some folks out there. Looks like many of you are planning on a 17-20 pace so it should be a good group looking out for each other.
Make sure to check out the route if you're unfamiliar and give it a shot this week. There will be a larger crew next week.
I'm in for the 40 or can be persuaded to go the "T" as you guys reference if there's others who'd prefer to get some more mileage. Specially since I'll be picking up in Gtown. The lead pace sounds good to me....
Anybody heading out on Saturday this weekend? I can't make it to peasant man so I'm hoping to head to the BP or the T from cap hill. Riding at a B/B+ pace.
I'm seeing a lot of email chatter about folks planning to ride tomorrow. Please post how far you'd like to go and at what speed so that everyone can coordinate ahead of time.
I've also seen some chatter about moving the start time, now that it's getting warmer so we can fit in more miles before other commitments take over.
I'm in and planning to ride as much as I can before getting back to the Hill by 10:15.
In for poolesville.
For consistency sake, if we move the ride up, let's make it a permanent change for the season.
So as you post for this week, please indicate your preference of either starting at usual time of 7:40/8:00 or new time of 7:10/7:30. We'll eventually start earlier, the question is if anyone without kids is interested in doing it now.
In for the T @ B+ pace, and would like to keep start time 7:40/8:00.
Later is better!! I vote 7:40/8:00. (Not a morning person.)
Riding to the T
My pacing will be light speed.
I like 7:40/8.
Going to try to make it out tomorrow. Just to the BP or T.
I vote for 6:40/7:00. Once it gets hot everyone will be begging for it.
The earlier the better - but happy with 7:40 if the popular vote demands it. I'm likely going to the T at light speed if I can hang on Phil's wheel.
I am up for earlier. Looking to go 50. Too new to the group to know where that is on the ride. Looking forward to learn.
Phil, I like your haiku.
I'm going to jump in at the Safeway on MacArthur - heading to Poolesville via Glen and probably Darnestown if any other slower B groupers want to join. Don't care what time the start is.
