Trevor and I are rolling at the usual time of 7:30 and doing the BP loop with an easy off the bike run afterwards.
To mitigate the confusion that has already started, the regular club ride is still at 730am out of Georgetown. The official clip in time has not changed.
See you guys at 730!
Bethany, Dhop and I are starting 7:30 as well. Going to be 90 degrees tomorrow. Not quite fall hours yet!
All that being said, I'm in for the 7:30 hämmerfest!
Ja! Mit der panzerwagen!
Anybody in for a ride this week?
I'm in for the T from the hill at 7:10.
Any B group riders tomorrow?
Any plans for the ride this Saturday? I am a new member and would like to join.
I'm planning on riding to the T.
I'd like to stick to the 7:30 AM clip from G'town at least for a few more weeks.
Matt - See the first page of this thread for the ride details.
Not sure who's joining in from the Hill this week. A few of us will be out at DCL. I'm out for most of the rest of September courtesy of Savageman and then some travel to take care of some family stuff (non-emergency so don't worry, I'll be taking a bike).
I'm comfortable leaving the ride start at 7:10/7:30 until I get back and then it will probably be a great idea to move it back so you all can start sleeping in more ;-) Just kidding. With this week's heat it's hard to come to grips with the fact that summer is almost over and it's time to start thinking about less daylight and cooler temps.
I'm also a newish member but want to ride on Saturday. I'd meet at the spot on the Hill @ 7:10. Anywhere from 50-80 miles would probably work for me. Look forward to hearing back, and thanks in advance. DC Tri is awesome, really.
Good to see we may have a few new faces out there.
Good luck at SavageMan Travis and all those doing it. Bring home the brick!
I'm in for about 70. Thinking about heading up Wisconsin - Mass - Goldsboro to skip the construction on McArthur.
A couple of us are riding mountain bikes tomorrow morning at Schaeffer Farms. In a push to bring more people to the dirty side of riding, I figured I'd mention it here in case anyone has a mountain bike hiding in their closet.
We're clipping in at 8am and will be riding at a reasonable clip and doing lots of sweet jumps and sweeter crashes.
@Travis - I think I just might be game. I mean riding on torn up MacArthur right now is essentially the same as mountain biking right?!?!
It's been a while since I've been up to Schaeffer, can ping the deets for meet up.
Anybody else in Arlington that's interested, let me know and we can carpool.
Well if you were ever wondering what exactly is being done on that stretch of MacAurther Blvd. Check out this link.
Holy smokes -- that link says that project isn't going to be completed until September 2014.
I am in for Schaffer since I am still boycotting MacArthur this year.
Travis you are only a post away from 1k.
A couple of options to avoid MacArthur....
Go up Rock Creek Park all the way to the end. Cross Rockville Pike (carefully) and COntinue on Grosvenor Place. Left onto Tuckerman. Take Tuckerman all the way to Falls, and turn left. Continue to the BP at River.
Take Wisconsin north to Massachusetts. Take Massachusetts until it dead ends at Goldsboro. Go right at Goldsboro until River. Turn left at River and continue to the BP.
I will be doing a century tomorrow going the Massachusetts way to Point of Rocks.
Have a safe ride, whatever you do!
I can't view that architecture renderings closely enough to see exactly what they show, but I sure like the idea of including shoulders on that road. It'll be worth the hassle even if it is a pain in the ass for the next several months.
But I think Abby has the right idea... we may need to alter the weekly route and adjust for the construction. If you have suggestions, keep the feedback flowing through here and we'll get a standard route going that is safe and easy to ride.
There are also some routes in Virginia that we could possibly incorporate. (Wait, who am I and what did I just say?)
