do we get a negotiated rate for the Nations tri?
The answer is no.
Nations is closed. Are you refering to Nations in Sept or the DC Triathlon that all of the NTPers are doing in June ? Registration for the one in June opens up Feb 1. No discount for that one either.
However, we are taken cared of very very well by them in many many other ways.
Are you sure? The website says registration is still open. I'm a hill staffer and thinking of registering through the Congressional "race within a race". Just didn't want to fork over the registration fee if I could get a slot through the club.
oh my bad .. it is still open. Not sure what's in my coffee this morning. I think that I was looking at a cached 2009 page. Sorry :)
But the club does not get a discount though.
Is there a website for the DC Tri in June?
The race in June:
Still open. Two complaints from last year - check in process is time consuming due to mandatory briefings but they streamlined the rest. They ran out of the cool bike shirts in the first 30 minutes of the two-day expo last year. Hope they don't use craft again for that.
There will be in February. They're still building it.
does anyone know the prices of the DC Tri? They are not listed on the site.
krafty81 doesn't like Craft? ironic
Nation's Tri did not even have XS tees. But maybe if 1000 out of 6000 register for XS, they'll stock it. Yes for a race that costs $175+'fees', I will complain that there are no XS shirts.
According to Nation's Tri website, the meeting is no longer mandatory.
$25 discount for the first 500 people to sign up for the DC Tri when registration opens on Feb 1st at 9am. Code is: DCTRI25
Ok - I will register as I do any race where I get to sleep in my own bed and don't have to bear travel costs and logistics.
Have you checked out the run course: (i) positive - very scenic along the Mall - so happy - no 12th St and 9th St tunnels either as done at ITU; (ii) negative - finish line on 3rd St - long long long walk to transition - complaints from Nations and was this not why the run finish was moved closer to the transition area.
OK- that is my last complaint - I will finish strong and hoof it back to transition proudly flashing my medal and smiling proudly - if for no other reason that I fear the wrath and punishment from Vietnamese Royalty on this lowly peasant. I will not shame the Emperor - at least not while wearing DC Tri Club apparel.
I'm all for the race finish being on PA Ave. I like the Capitol building in the background of finish line pictures. That's one reason I was excited about ITU last year. Better than a Hains Point finish line picture. :)
Hey they spelled my name wrong! Good news Lisa about the briefing...
It's awesome that there is a $25 discount for the first 500 people, but what is the registration fee for each distance? I can't find that info anywhere.
Edit: Well, never mind. The e-mail just answered my question. :)
Registration is open everyone. You can claim your discount now
Neisha (Racing as a Newbie)
I haven't been participating much with the club, but I just signed up for the Olympic and I'm excited to do a race near home!
Yep -- Nation's is still open.
Washington DC Tri does offer a discount and early registration to DC Tri general membership. You should have received the info in an email on Friday evening. If you don't see it, check your spam folder.
For those of you in NTP class of 2010, we get an even better rate for the race. Repeat: NTP MEMBERS WILL BE GIVEN A UNIQUE LINK FOR REGISTRATION SO DO NOT SIGN UP YET
As a token member of the staff that puts on these races, I'll say that we work really hard to take into account the complaints and make the appropriate changes. Someone mentioned that it's a pain to walk from the finish line on Penn to transition at Potomac Park. That may be true in some people's opinion and we're aware of that. That's why Nation's Tri finishes back at Potomac park.
Washington DC Tri isn't meant to be another Nation's Tri, it's meant to be a second triathlon option in DC that gets to utilize more of the sites of DC. If you don't have a race photo of you running down Penn Ave. with the Capitol in the background, you'll love it when you do. It's definitely worth the walk back to transition. DC Tri will likely organize some sort of outing after the race if you need some liquid carbohydrates to energize you to get back to transition.
If you have any questions about the races, you can email me at volunteer (at) wseminc (dot) com. I may not have the answers for you but I can get them.
