Hi NTPers -
Saturday the harsh reality hit that although I love riding my bike, I know next to nothing about fixing a flat or keeping it in good working order on a daily basis. I'd like my morning of investigative work to benefit anyone esle who might be in this position.
Tomorrow night there are two free bike maintenance classes in Virginia.
Spokes Etc. on Quaker Lane in Alexandria @ 6:45pm
REI in Bailesy Crossroads @ 7pm
I'll be heading to Spokes, but either one should give a good cursory review of basic bike care.
From Spokes they say on the web site that the class will help you extend your basic bike maintenance knowledge:
? Proper way to fix a flat tire
? Adjusting derailleurs and eliminating shifting problems
? Adjusting brake cables
? Lubrication (Where?, Which lube? How often?)
? Basic tools to carry for basic roadside repairs
There is no need to bring your bike -- they have everything that you need.
REI in College Park has the bike class on Wednesday at 7 pm.
I'm planning on attending. The Sat. group ride will have a brief clinic prior to the ride I believe as well.
