The New WL HS pool open today is bigger, and better at least will have 6 lanes every time including when there are classes. SO the crowded lanes in the afternoon should be better. The only negative thing is that is 25yds. Great facility
That's good news. The old pool was rusting out.
Given Conte's, the WL school track, and the W&OD trail down the street, it just adds to the area's allure as a sports center. Why, one could even put on a mini tri using just the school and the trail. Hmm....
When is the pool open to the public? My gym's pool is closed for two weeks and I gotta get some swims in.

What about the track? I'm getting off work late tonight (10pm) and want to get a track workout in, but Cardozo high school (by my house) is locked up by then. I work near Washington Lee though.
Washington-Lee Stadium: Opens 7:00 a.m. until dark or fifteen minutes after the last scheduled event on the field.
does it lock? or can i just scoot on there for a few miles at 10 or 11 and no one would be the wiser? (and if anyone is the wiser, i guess that would just add an interesting new dynamic to my training run that night)
I have jump the fense a few time at 5 Am
Yesterday I finish my workout at 9:30 and there was people playing ultimate disc. Base on word they play till 11 and after
so you shoudnt have a problem. If it close jump the fense and as long as you dont mind doing the work oput in the dark you should be find.
The track usually is open at 6 AM
Is the address for the new pool 1300 N. Quincy? Or is that the address for the old pool?
The address is the same. I understand the new building is just a little further down on Quincy (by "down," I mean, "away from Ballston").
I went last night from 8-9, what a great new space. The only think I don't get, is why with all that room they didnt make a 50mx25yrd pool? Regardless, what a nice swim.
Checked it out during Conte's ride. The pool's just inside the school complex from the old pool. They had 9 lanes up. Nice skylight and bright yellow colors. Big ceiling space looks kind of like a h.s. basketball arena.
Maybe this fall someone can take the opportunity to finally put together a regularly scheduled, well-attended DCT swim group for No. Va. Hmm...
My brother calls it the swimnasium. Not rhyming with gymnasium but more with nauseum. It's hilarious.
Unfortunately fall is football season...
It is $4.75 for non VA residents though. (kinda pricey!) so take your wallet. although they did let me off the hook for the first time.
Actually, it's $4.75 for Arlington residents, and $10 for non-residents. They've never asked for my ID, though.
Another option I just discovered...if you're military, military spouse or GS (government employee) - any ID that can get you on a base - Fort Meyer in Arlington has a 50 meter outdoor pool behind the community center open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Hours are 11-7 during the week. Some variation of that on the weekend. $3 for all to use. It was 80 degrees.
Does anyone know if the new pool stays open in the event of thunder or lightning? I know the old one would shut down because they were concerned it wasn't grounded.
