A new offseason tradition- Sunday runs in Rock Creek Park! A group will be meeting at Pierce Mill every Sunday morning at 8am for some fun running through Rock Creek Park. All paces welcome- seriously. And then there will be brunch afterwards. What could be better?
Who: Fun Triathletes
What: Fun Run
Where: Meet at Pierce Mill in Rock Creek Park
Check this thread every week for the latest, and post here so we'll know to look for you.
IN for Sunday, October 25th. Getting there might be difficult because of the MCM, so plan accordingly.
I'm hoping to meet you at RCP on Sunday. Getting there from Dupont should not be a problem, but getting out of bed might be. For others thinking about joining in, I"m a lot slower than Laurel and Phil so please come out to keep me company!
Planning to make it if I can find a way around the marathon coming from Arlington. -LB
Is the run mostly on trails or are you planning on the roads? I just want to be cautious with my sore ankle running on trails.
Unfortunately, I can’t make the run on Sunday. Have Fun.
Hugh, I think they run on the trails, to train for the Back Yard Burns.
Hope your ankle heals quickly.
I'll start joining you guys but not this weekend, MCM 10K beckons! How many miles are you thinking for this run? Shall we plan on every Sunday at 8am?
There's a mix of people of different paces doing different runs--some are exclusively on the trails, others on the trails and road and a couple are on the road only. As for distance--no one is really able to get a good lock on the satellites for gps on the trails and with paces being so different it's kinda irrelevant. Count on the majority doing 1 hour or so. We will be out there regularly--check here for an update. Hope to see more out--though the turnout today (~12-15 ppl) was great.
Sounds great. What are the distances? Is there a place or someones car to throw post run stuff?
As Phil said in the post above:

And yes, there are usually people with cars who are friendly enough to let you stash your stuff.
Fun run this past Sunday and great fall weather- everyone remember not to drink too much on Halloween so you can come running on this Sunday! (Except for you Andy, drink LOTS- it will make the morning much more entertaining).
Great run on Sunday! Hope we can keep these up throughout the winter.
Bonus points to anyone who shows up Sunday morning still in their costume from the night before?
Ahh Andy. I don't know if anyones costume could top your "normal" post race attire this past weekend. Last weekend was a blast but I am unfortunately out of town on this Sunday.
Yep -- good run this weekend. I really enjoyed hanging out with you all on the trails and at brunch.
Oh, wait.... I was late and ran by myself. Fortunately, I was hallucinating by the time I got to the park and was able to carry on some interesting chatter with some very vivid forest animals.
I'm out of town this weekend as well but Nov 8th will be on.
don't let a little rain stop you, 8am at Pierce Mill for an easy off season run. See you there. -L
Impressive group out on a damp morning. Keep it up! I hope to join you one day but right now I am stuck swimming and biking until my hamstring heals.
I'll be there tomorrow, 8am.
These runs were a lot of fun last year and I've been meaning to come out... and after getting my butt handed to me on the hills last week at Backyard Burn, it's clearly time.
Hope to see some folks in the morning!
A good samaritan just told me that the runs have moved to 9am. Good deal.
And here I thought no one watches the forum on Saturday nights...
See you guys next week. The marathon legs need a break today.
Think my legs have somewhat recovered from Rehoboth so I'll be there tomorrow. 9am start, right? WS, see you there!
