The Bethesda pool at Little Falls is open - both the 25 and 50 meter pools, and the water was great this morning! They are on a "pre-season" schedule and are open for laps from 6 am to 1 pm (I don't know anything about the rest of their schedule but they were great on the phone when I called yesterday). The pool operates on the punch card system - the P12 is what most people get (12 swims for the price of 10) - your card from the MAC, GISC, and all of the other MC pools works there.
The Bethesda pool is great! I swam there for the 1st time on Monday. The 50 meter length is definitely good training for a little endurance (especially since I'm not a flip-turner).
this is great to know since it's about 50 feet from my office! I thought that the youth swim teams took it over most mornings. were they around when you were there?
Jeanne - I was there late morning (11-12:30), so I wouldn't know about the swim teams. It was really nice & quiet (only a handful of people at the pool), but I'm sure that once schools let out.
Good to know sandy! Next time stop by! :)
The pool is even better now that it's going to be open til 8pm! And it's right on the capitol crescent trail.
On Monday, 6/15, I'm trying to organize a sprint distance workout, swimming 750m at the pool then biking to G-town and back and finishing with a run to the Dalecarlia tunnel on the capitol crescent trail, all in preparation for the ITU. Anyone's welcome to join! See the post in the "Brick" section of the forum!
Do you have anyone to watch gear?
I don't. My "transition area" is going to be my car. :) They have a bike rack, and I was just going to lock mine up. While your things are at the pool. they're pretty safe, but unless someone feels like watching our stuff, I wouldn't leave my bike unlocked outside the swim center...
Makes sense to me. I'll have to toss my bike in my car (don't have a lock).
would be a great dry (wet?) run (bike?) for me. thanks!
what time to meet?
6:15 or so, try to start around 6:30 so we're not running in the dark.
I live very near the pool, at chevy chase drive. About 3-minute walk to the pool. You guys are welcome to leave your gear at my place. Let me know.
Here is the suggested NTP OLY training schedule for this week. Is anyone interested in doing some of these workouts together?
Mon - Bike 70 min, zone 1-3, just ride
Tues - Swim 45 min
Wed - Run 1 hr, zone 1-2, just run
Thurs - OFF
Fri - Swim 1 hr, 1500 yards continuous
Sat - Bike 70 min, zone 1-4
Sun - easy 30 min run
I can't run right now but I'd be interested in swimming and cycling. Is anyone available during weekdays?
I should be available for late afternoons!
Cool. When do you want to start? I'm free every afternoon from Weds-Fri this week.
How about we meet at the Bethesda pool around 6:30 tonight and either do a swim or bike on the Capital Crescent Trail or both?! Thoughts?
You might find me at the Bethesda pool tonight. Unless I can come up with yet another excuse in the next few hours for why I shouldn't swim this week.
Sorry I missed you tonight Coxie. Let's try for next week some time.
Hi! I am going to do the Conte's ride tomorrow again. I did it last night. Very hilly course and challenging. It's 20 miles long and they leave from Conte's in Bethesda at 6:15 if anyone is interested in joining me :)
i'll be at conte's, pulling up the rear!
