According to their website, there is another OWS clinic this Sunday. I wasn't able to get a spot in Saturday's training tri so I think I am going to attend this clinic instead. Maybe even do a bike ride afterward. If anyone else might be interested, drop me a line. Thanks! Kelly

I plan to go on Sunday, June 7th. I had planned to go yesterday but got an email at around 6:30am that the clinic had to be canceled due to the thunder storm.

I got the early morning e-mail to. Has anyone been to this clinic before? Just curious if it's worth dragging my butt out of bed so early on a sunday mornin...

Anyone else considering renting a wet suit? I think I need to practice getting in and out of one of those things. Makes me a bit nervous to be honest! ha!

I was looking to do an open water swim this Sunday as well. I am doing the Training Tri on Saturday, but would be interested in joining a group going to Gunston Manor or Sandy Point.

That being said, where is Gunston Manor??? Does anyone have any opinions on how it compares with Sandy Point?

I'd be interested in doing this as well - is this going to be an NTP event or is it totally seperate??

Thanks!

Tammy

(email: tammy.lewin@gmail.com - if anyone is putting together a group to go down)

What time are you thinking about heading out? I'd love to join, but am volunteering Saturday until very late and don't want to commit to anything super early on Sunday morning.

Thanks,

Tania.

I believe the OWS clinic stars at 7:30 AM, the swim only portion is at 8:30 AM

Quick question...Is this happening sometime in the future? The link has a date of May 31st, which I believe passed already. If the swim is THIS Sunday, the 7th, I would be very interested. Thanks.

from what i understand from last week's canceled swim conversations, there is at least one OWS at Gunston this Sunday, maybe 2 session. You should email Denis to be sure: denis@usopenwater.org or call him at 301-455-4341. He'll put you on his email list. Hope this helps, Ashley

Here's what Denis wrote in the email I got Sunday AM just before was about to leave.

"We need to cancel today due to lightning. See you next week.
Denis"

I assume the program times are the same 7:30-8:30AM Clinic, 8:30-9:30 OWS.

Here is the link to the website showing the June 7th clinic. I tried emailing Denis but haven't gotten a response yet.

I'm interested in going. Anyone know if the water is warm enough to go without a wetsuit?

The site I use for water temps is:
http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/satl_tmap.html

It doesn't have anything right around Mason Neck, but it does have water temps above and below so that should give a pretty good idea.
