Good afternoon peasant class citizens. Royalty class here with an important message. The lovely Tania Grollman (fresh back from IMCoz) came up with the brilliant idea that all first time IMers should get together this Thursday for the sharing of beverages and experiences from our journey to the IM Kingdom this year. It's refreshing to see someone from the peasant class come up with such a brilliant idea. Sometimes I think that some of you people in the peasants world have some pretty good ideas ... sometimes.
Anyway, if you completed your first IM this year or are planning to do one in 2010, come join us this Thursday at the Rocket Bar in DC at 6:00 PM for a little happy hour. Come out and let's share war stories together and lie to the 2010 class about how difficult it actually is. If you are planning to do your first one in 2010, come out and hear from the folks who just did their first one on what it's like to do one. IMLP, IMMoo, IMFL, IMAZ, IMCoz, IMVietnam, and IM whatever ... come on out.
As a bonus, all those who come this Thursday may look me in the eyes for a few brief moments ... but please don't get carried away and start to actually talk to me.
6:00 PM - Thursday 12/17
714 7th Street Northwest (Chinatown)
Washington, DC 20001-3716
Don't forget IM-CDA! Tania, thanks for setting this up and Tuan, thanks for getting the message out. See you then.
ahem, Roth aka Quelle Roth Challenge formerly known as Ironman Europe will be in da haus.
Like - Beach 2 Battleship - a great iron distance race for first timers. Not as expensive ($350 vs. $550), within driving distance, and very well organized and supported. Iron distance is iron distance and congrats are due to all who finished one. I'll be at the happy hour from 6:00 to 6:30 or so if anyone has questions about this race.
I'm not sure if Justin has completed his first 140.6 mile race this year. If so, you're welcome to attend.
If not, you're also welcome to hold your own happy hour and invite like-minded people who are interested in discussing the pros and cons of using the terms first time Ironman vs. first time irondistance participants vs. first time ultra distance participants.
Be sure to give me a call when the trademark attorneys show up to really spice up the conversation.
See you all Thursday!
very good, very funny. but we dont' have to worry there are plenty of attorney's in the club that will defend it pro bono. lol.
better be careful using the term 140.6 from now on, WTC is trying to trademark that since they are trying to get 70.3 also.
just joking .. or am I? :)
Who cares what we call it, lets just get some drinks!!!
See you all tomorrow night.
Looking forward to seeing you all tonight to celebrate our accomplishments!
Are we meeting in any particular area of the bar?
Despite my sarcasm, I was really looking forward to this happy hour. Unfortunately, I completely forgot that I have company tonight from out of town that are neither first time Ironpeople nor trademark attorneys.
We're going to miss this tonight but I hope to see you all on Saturday.
good job stay away from the attorneys they are bad news. :)
This commercial litigator is bringing her pal who not only an IMFL 2010 contender, but also a trademark attorney at PTO. Should be able to clear up any questions y'all may have.
I didn't say they weren't attorneys, in fact, I'll be outnumbered 3 to 1. You're all jealous, I'm sure.
I work with a bunch of TM & Copyright attorneys, so beware! :-)
See you all shortly.
