Deep Creek Coordination and Input
POSTED: 5/13/10 1:37 PM

Folks,
The club is organizing the annual trip to Deep Creek Lake for a weekend of camping, fun, and hills.

EDIT: UPDATED LOGISTICS
Running headcount: 39 people
Max: 42 people
7 Campsites for Friday, 30 Jul through Sunday, 1 Aug. Arriving Friday for 2 nights. The campsites are a max of 6 people each and 2 cars. They are sites 78, 105, 106, 107, 110, 111, and 112 on this map:
http://reservations.dnr.state.md.us/camping/map_of_Deep_Creek_Lake_State_Park/r/campgroundMap.do?page=map&search=site&contractCode=MD&parkId=380522&topTabIndex=CampingSpot
(as close as possible to the bath house...)
EDIT: Send an email to events at dctriclub.org and we'll send you the google spreadsheet where you can enter your info. If the spreadsheet fails for technical reasons, feel free to send your info. Info is:
1. Your name and email.
2. Others in your party, if they are not coordinating for themselves.
3. Your cell phones.
4. How many vehicles you have, and how many tents.
5. Preferred camping spot (see the link on the first page).
6. Your planned routes over the weekend.
7. Your speed in mph. This is your usual biking speed. Ex. 16-18 mph. Just a comparative estimate on your normal rides, or on your races. Don't try to guess your speed at Deep Creek. This will help us group up.
8. If you can be a camping spot POC. IE the person who can coordinate the folks at your camping spot, receive calls from 'base camp', fight off bears, etc...
9. If you need a ride / you can offer a ride (note: the club is Not responsible for your transportation. You should coordinate your own based on the information).

If we get less people we can subtract sites and if we get more we can add. The campsites do fill up so the sooner we realize we need more the better chance of gettinge additional sites.

Right now, the club is paying for the camp site fees. Assume that the tents, transportation, food, etc. we will coordinate amongst the participants.

Go ahead and post here if you are IN.

I'd prefer Aug. 1 too. Also, don't forget about the Garrett County Gran Fondo -- http://www.winthefight.org/granfondo/index.htm in late June. A double-metric with 15,000 feet of climbing. (with less-severe 100- and 50- mile options also available).

The Gran Fondo is the 26-27, so the 31-1 is a great date.

Another vote, well, two actually, for July 31-August 1.
I'd like to see the Savageman course(s) before committing.

Thanks! We were hoping the 3 week out would attract the attention of the smarter-than-average Timberman crew. Glad to have you aboard and please don't embarass the rest of us too much...:)

If you are doing the Diabolical Double 88, be warned, you won't be back to the campsite by 1pm if you leave at 8. 2-3pm is more realisitic.

Just an FYI!
