Riding on McArthur on Weekday Morning
POSTED: 8/04/11 9:36 AM

I'm traveling without my bike this weekend, so I want to get a good long ride in tomorrow before work. I'd rather not do Hains Point for two hours, so I was thinking of doing McArthur to Falls. Anyone else do this on a weekday morning (leaving around 6:30)? Is it safe with morning AM rush hour on the way back?

If not, any other suggestions that fit the bill but don't involve riding on a trail of HP?

Thanks,
Sean

If you aren't afraid of hills, the "Hell of the North" or "Hills of North Arlington" routes (known in the DC-area cycling world as the "HON") are definitely safe at that time of day. I ride them in the mornings once or twice a week.

I'm not sure where you are located, but here is an example:

This is similar to the Contes/Freshbikes Tuesday night "B" ride, if you know that route.

Thanks for the link -- I gotta try that route. Appreciate it being in GPS format -- ridewithgps.com ROCKS!
