So who is up for this next Saturday? Didn't get off the ground this week.
Ride 1 loop of the Blue Ridge Challenge Route (cue previously posted)
Brick run 35-40 minutes
C'mon peeps lets get out to Marshall and do some scenic workouts.
Proposed rollout time- 8:15 a.m. from commuter lot.
Here's the route map:
This sounds pretty interesting...
I would like to go, but I'll be heading up to Jersey to cheer people on at NJ State Tri. Good luck to all the NTPers and other racers. :)
anyone else in for this brick? i'd be interested in carpooling out. nathan.curll at gmail
If anyone can make it out to White Flint Metro with their bike or can otherwise get to the Rockville/Potomac area (270 exit 4) then I am happy to carpool to haul someone out to the start.
Would be nice if we can get a critical mass of at least 4-5 riders. This is a really quality workout.
I'm in for a Mt. Weather loop but I need additional bike miles so I plan to tack on 38 miles from Marshall to Middlesburg. Cue sheet for Marshall to Middlesburg available here:
The thought of this intrigues me as I prepare for -
Anyone willing to do the Mt. Weather Climb then scurry back down for a repeat? The same with the 2nd climb up Naked Mtn. I think it is called?
That would get you easily 70 hard miles...
Any takers...if so I may join you all...
Ok, I think I may be in, but isn't doing the loop twice about 110 as opposed to 70?
Didn't mean doing it twice...meant doing Mountain repeats... ;)
Sounds like a good time! Count me in.
Yea, I'll do one repeat if the need for punishment is so great, but still want to run for 30 minutes after. Hopefully someone will join.
I'll be leaving from Arlington (Dominion Road) and have room for 1 other if someone needs a ride?
Sweet, we are planning a roll out at 8:15 exactly with no dilly dallying as well as only two stops during the ride.
One stop at the General Store before we make the left onto the road that starts the climb, and somewhere after the descent off Mt. Weather (after the repeat) to top off bottles once again.
Other than that we all need to keep an eye on Andy's chain....
At least that is the plan...
Also in for Saturday. Andy needs to man up and take that pizza cutter of his cassette. It is likely the reason why his chain was cut in half!
Can't make it this weekend, but for future reference, can you tell me where that water stop is after the descent? Have a great ride--
Water stop is important as recall our (slower) group once having to crash a farm house (with permission) for well water after the descent on a hot day; stores after the descent were scarce.
Hey, couple of us are planing on doing a Mt. Weather brick this Sat. Noticed that jiml asked where that water stop post decent was but no answer. Chad, Andy, or anyone else, any knowledge on that stop?
Thinking of reversing the loop so that the store is post ascent/decent as a result.
Shoot me an email if you'd like to join us.
The one store on the ride is in Airmont (corner of the Snickersville Turnpike and Airmont Rd ) and that is before you begin the climb. There isn't anything after the Mt. Weather climb and descent, unless something new has gone in within the last year.
Doing the course in reverse, the climbs might be tougher. I know the descent will be less technical (no sharp switchbacks).
Y'all have fun.
