Looking to ride Monday, Mem Day. Skyline? Mt. Weather? 9 am start?
I could get down with a Skyline or Mt Weather ride this weekend. Why the wait until Monday?
I could get into this Ed. Keep me posted.
Rick A.
Hey Ed -- Stephanie B and I are interested. :)
I'm interested...
would love to join- what distance were you thinking?
Well, the Mt. Weather route is 56 mi. Skyline could be up to 80. Another option is Sugarloaf Mt., from Glen Echo say, which I think is around 65.
I'd be in for a long day on Skyline :)
110 not so fast miles on skyline drive?
I could be in for Skyline. It'll be my first time on that route! Could we start earlier though? 8? Maybe even try my luck and go for 7? I don't know about you, but I'd still like to have most of the day to enjoy typical Memorial Day festivities... like food. Lots of food.
I'd be interested. Though not at 7. I'm not getting up at 4:30 on a holiday.
OK, consensus is Skyline. Let's say 8 am start.
We'll likely have a very fast group, and a group that is, ah, more leisurely. Distance will be flex too. I hear there's a c. 80-mi route, but folks can turn back anytime before that 40-mi turnaround.
Preference for starting in the park's parking lot, or in Front Royal at Spelunker's, the latter requiring a steep initial climb? Also, does someone have directions to the former, I have them for the latter?
Spelunkers - the climb is fun :)
This sounds perfect! I'm in -- 8 am start; flexible on the starting place; 70-80ish miles w decent pace (gotta be back in time for burgers and beer in the afternoon)...
Dan
I'll be in the more "leisurely" group, although it wont necessarily feel like leisure for me... I definitely wont be holding 20+ over 80+ miles!
You know what else also occurred to me? I have no idea where Skyline is or what the route looks like! Is there a cue sheet buried in one of the other threads somewhere?
I am not sure a cue sheet is needed...just this. You will be starting at mile 0 in Front Royal.

Hey speedies,
I'll be headed to Sperryville tomorrow morning to get in my long ride... no burgers or beer for me. Hope you guys get in a good ride, the weather is merciful and gentle, and all practice good hydration and nutrition, n :)
I have been really distracted with work and not paying much attention, but w/r/t this note about "speedies" -- I'm about 16-17 mph in the flatlands. I expect my blazing ascents to be not that blazing. So slowpokes welcome.
If you want to carpool, post here.
I could use a ride, coming from Alexandria, 1 bike, could meet anywhere in DC area.
