Allergic to swim goggle?
POSTED: 1/18/11 11:25 AM

So I've been swimming a bit more lately and am developing blotches (yes, that's a technical term) beneath my eyes right where I put on my goggles. The area around my eyes is slightly swollen and my eyes look puffy. I wear speedo goggle and am wondering if I'm allergic to the rubber/latex or whatever is in those things. Has anyone else had issues like this? What's a remedy? Thanks.

If you're just allergic to the lining material you can try swedish goggles, those are all plastic with no cushioning material

This is what they look like-

I have had reactions to laytex swim caps so I switched to the silicone ones. As for goggles - not really, but I do put a smathering of Aquaphour around my eyes, the back of my neck and temple area to prevent irritation.

Are you sure that you're not allergic to swimming?

Why am I not surprised to see that comment from YOU, Vertical Swimmer?! To the others, thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into them.
