First-timer/newbie looking for advice/buddies
POSTED: 4/07/12 9:43 PM

Hi there,
I just moved to DC from Chicago and am training for the Philly Tri Olympic distance (now that DC is cancelled); it will be my first triathlon.
I live in the Arlington area and am looking for any advice on places to train as well as training buddies, especially when it comes time to start open-water training.
Anyone out there looking for a new tri buddy?

Welcome aboard.

You might go to the first Freshbikes group ride in Arlington starting at 6 or 6:30 pm on Tuesday. Excellent way to meet up to 100 and more cyclists and triathletes, many from club. First ride is April 17. Many DCTriers also swim at Washington-Lee High pool, and hit the track there Wednesday eves, and some will be running this month's Friday evening 5K series at Crystal City. And keep your eyes open for posts on open-water swimming at Sandy Pt. park near Annapolis. Also, many clubbers will be doing Gen. Smallwood, and PeasantMan, which still has open slots.
