ChesapeakeMan Volunteer Call
POSTED: 9/09/09 9:17 AM

We are looking for volunteers to help out for the ChesapeakeMan Ultra Triathlon. This is a full-distance (2.4mi swim, 112mi bike, 26.2mi run) event held right in our backyard at Cambridge, MD on Saturday, September 26, 2009. This is a great opportunity to see what a 140.6 event looks like up close and personal without having to travel too far. The athletes have from 7am to midnight to complete the course, but of course we don't expect anyone to work an all day-evening shift. Any amount of time, even just a couple of hours, that you can volunteer would be greatly appreciated (but they do especially need help with the evening shifts). Here is a summary of the positions they need volunteers for:

Thursday (9/24) afternoon & all day Friday (9/25) (times to be confirmed) - Registration at the Hyatt Regency

Saturday – from 5:30 am until 9:00 am (Great Marsh Park)
- Body Marking
- Swim Start & Finish
- Transition area

Bike Special Needs - From 9:00 am until mid afternoon (High School)
- Handing out “nutrition bags to returning cyclists on their first bike loop
- Marshaling cyclists through the High School grounds

Bike to Run Transition - From midday until late afternoon (High School)
- Assisting cyclists as they finish the bike phase and begin their marathon

Run Special Needs and Aid Station (High School)
The runners have 3 loops through the High School.
There is an aid station and “special needs” area for the runners

Finish Area - From early evening until midnight (High School)
- The finish line is on the track of the High School Stadium
- Food area also has to be staffed

If you can help out with any of these shifts, please email me.
