Any recommendations on where I can get a 50ish mile ride in on a work day that's safe from a traffic perspective and not HP?
come on out to MoCo. That's the nice thing about the 'burbs :)
message me if you want some cue sheets!
On your trainer in your living room watching Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Netflix.
Or W&OD beyond Vienna. Most trails suck during work days, especially when the weather is 'temperate' right now.
Or like Elaine suggests, make it up to MD to get on some backroads.
I can't believe I just encouraged someone to actually go to Maryland... Just stay away from Gaithersburg - that's Andy Sovonik of Gaithersburg's territory.
Thanks! Good ideas.
Anyone interested in riding 60 miles Wed early morning or Thurs day?
head out to Whites Ferry....minimal traffic lights once you're past Falls & River.
Georgetown-past Mount Vernon to turnaround round trip, 25 miles.
Then Key Bridge up Custis Trail to start of W&OD and back, 10 miles.
Then 2 loops, Gtown up Crescent Trail to Bethesda & back. 15 miles.
50 miles total.
A, you can ride up Beach Dr through RCP pretty safely during the week (if you completely avoid anytime near rush hour). I might do it tomorrow during the day (~30 ish) if you didn't make it out this morning and want company for at least part of your ride. Otherwise I might drive down to Prince William Park and ride some loops there (pending thunderstorms).
And the RCP trail actually branches all the way up to Lake Needwood (sp?) in Rockville, 70 clicks (miles--English system) round trip, can turn around at the appropriate mileage.
For those who weren't in the military, 1 click = 1 kilometer = .6 miles.
So 70 clicks is around 42 miles.
I've got a route and Trisha as a partner in crime. Hooray for DC Tri forum!
