Ever said, "Why doesn't DC Tri Club go to ___ for Happy Hour?"
Thought we'd try something a little different for the month of November. Since this is your club, why not have a say as to where you think we should have our monthly happy hour!
We'll set the date as 11/15 but let's hear where's a good place to go!
Penn Social works, or one of our faves on the Hill. Back to our roots, as we get back to our normal 3rd Thursday schedule!
Great idea! what about the U-Street/Cardozo area? Maybe Marvin or Policy? Marvin has a heated, partly covered roofdeck and outdoor beer garden. Policy has some good HH specials and a nice, long bar space. others would definitely know the area better than I do though...
full disclosure: I’m biased (trying to make the HH & a concert at the Black Cat that night!), BUT it is someplace different and metro-accessible (green & yellow).
Love the U Street idea!
Move it to a Wednesday and go to Red Derby. $3 White Russians, can't beat that price (trust me, I have looked. A lot)/
I think Red Derby could be a good choice, regardless of day. I notice a fair amount of tri bumper stickers in the Mt. P area, but alas I don't think any good can come from a club happy hour at the Raven.
Back in the day, we used to go to Politiki ("Pour House") a lot on the HIll. But, I don't live there anymore so let's go somewhere better.
Post Pub - 15th & Vermont
Fado's - love fake trees and Irish flair
Froggy Bottom - they serve Vietnamese, hence the name "Froggy"
The Bottom Line - central, cheap, a Dewey bar
Chef Geoff's - gigantic mugs of beers a la Hunan One before it jumped the shark
I'm all in for bars near U St except then most people have to switch Metros. sad face.
Founding Farmers, in Foggy Bottom.
World of Beers, Ballston.
A place where Jessica Oldham could arm-wrestle all takers again would be good...
...Actually, a thought maybe for a later time: a house party. If a club member is willing to open his or her house to a club HH/party. (I'd be willing, for one, tho I'm kinda far out in Alexandria.)
Rustico in Ballston. Huge beer list, lots of space, good food, chill atmosphere, close to home :)
I moved out towards Baltimore, so I'm rarely ever able to go to these things. But if you all do something in Chinatown, where I work a few days a week, I'm in! I suggest Fado, Vapianos, Irish Channel, RFD.
I would like to say IronHorse which is near the Phone Booth (Verizon Center), but I'm sure I can make next Thursday with that being the first day of indoor track practice.
Vapiano's in Chinatown has a great (read: cheap) HH). Super fun.
Thanks everyone for all the good choices!
Let's check out Policy this Thursday.
6pm til ??
Happy Hour is 5-8 pm

I'll work on securing that space near the window kind of on the right as you walk in. Check out the layout here .
