Fixing a Paint Chip on Bike
POSTED: 3/29/10 10:12 PM

I have a relatively new road bike and recently noticed a few paint chips. They aren't all that unsightly but are annoying for how well I think I care for my bike.

What should I do for these paint chips to keep them as small as possible? Leave them alone? Use clear nail polish? Is there a product out there I should order?

goto a hobby store, get some "testors" model car paint and use a small brush, you will find a bunch of colors that will probably match your bike as closely as possible.

if you do it carefully only the most trained eyes, about 2 inches away from the bike will be able to see that you did anything and it will appear like new for the other 99.9% of people.

good luck.

Some LBSs have small amounts of paint. Contes gave me some "cervelo red" for where my aerobars hit the frame in transit...

Nail polish works well. If you can color-match, all the better, but clear will protect the patch.
