Group Bike Ride to Multisport World Expo
POSTED: 3/19/12 7:19 AM

The NTP group is doing a group bike ride out to the Multisport World Expo and we wanted to invite the club, at large, to join the group.

We will be starting at Peirce Mill and making the approximate 12 mile trek out to the Georgetown Prep School for the Expo on Saturday March 24th. We will start the ride at 8:00AM (so arrive early to be ready to clip in at 8). The proposed course heads up Beach Drive (closed in parts to vehicle traffic on the weekend) under 495 and continues along Beach Drive to a left turn at Knowles Drive which ends right at the Georgetown Prep school. This route avoids major roads. There is the option to cut a mile off the trip by hopping into 355/Rockville Pike at Grosvenor for the last mile, but this is a high traffic road.

We would love for everyone to join us. If you don't feel like riding home, bring your Metro Card to metro back home. Thankfully Metro is suspending track work for Cherry Blossom season so all stations will be open. Peirce Mill is near the Cleveland Park metro station if you parked there for the ride out.

Bryan, any idea of approximate time NTP will roll out?
Thinking of starting with the G'town ride, stopping at Multisport and then coming back via Beach.
Thanks

Great idea.

If anyone needs to get to the expo by the start of things at 8, and wants to leave early from Pierce Mill at 7, let me know.

Just FYI, given the forecast for lots of rain on Saturday, we have cancelled the group bike ride out to the Expo. Given that this is the first time we would take the NTPers out on open roads, we didn't want to add rain to the mix.
