For those that didn't get into MCM or are looking to do fall 26.2, 13.1 or 8K, we are putting together a group to run Richmond on November 10, 2012. The race is well organized, great crowd support on the course, and it features a junk food stop with GUMMY BEARS at mile 10/23. If the gummy bears aren't enough to convince you to run (and they should be) the finish is downhill, so no matter how tired you feel, you can still look good in front of the crowds. I PR'd on the course last fall and can't wait to do it again.
If enough folks are interested, I'll look into getting a block of rooms at one of the downtown host hotels. Post a reply and note you are attending the race on the DC Tri Club featured races page.
Hotel / Room Updates: Several hotels are already full. I was able to secure 9 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express, located 0.5 miles from the start/finish. The reservations are for one evening (11/9/2012) at a rate of $129 + taxes. Right now, all the rooms are listed under "DC Triathlon Club / Tammy Farmer" and my credit card. Please let me know if you want one of the rooms and we can switch your room to your card.
This is a great way to extend our Club training and racing season! We added the Richmond Marathon and Half Marathon to the Featured Races section of the DC Tri Club website. Hillary P made a great suggestion for a supported long run in October, and we’re going to look into how to make this happen.
Tammy, thanks for your leadership and for organizing us!! Can't wait to see DC Tri gear all over the race course in Richmond.
Is there a DC Tri Club discount offered for registration in this race? I would like to join in for one of the rooms.
I would also throw out the Atlantic City marathon series in October 20-21 for additional races. I did one of the shorter races last year and it was a great event, with much of the run along the boardwalk and beaches--sea breeze included! All races end in the center of the boardwalk. Currently there is a discount for the half marathon on Zozi--see link below. Races are spread over both Saturday and Sunday and they have a nice fitness expo in one of the hotels.
Fall running season is here!
We have good number of DC Tri members heading down to Richmond in November.
Marathon, Half Marathon and 8K options are still open! And thanks to Tammy, we also have a hotel room block.
Check out the training calendar and plan to come out to Wednesday morning or evening track workouts and Tues/Thurs evening runs from Potomac River Running's Arlington Shop.
Awesome to see that so many other folks will be down there from the club! FYI -- this room block at the Holiday Inn Express is filled...as is the entire hotel. I booked a room at the Holiday Inn "West End." It's about 7 miles from the start/finish, but there's a shuttle. More importantly, there were still a few rooms when I called.
This is a fabulous race...looking forward to it!
Folks heading to Richmond is there a post race place to meet-up. FYI Janice is going and it is her B-day and I will have a cake for her.
