Registration is open. Who else is in?
Heeere we go again.
In. First 140.6 distance race.
Me and as of this morning...4 other DC tri peeps I know that aren't posted here signed up. We are pumped!! Should be big fun.
So who else is in? Who else is already going nuts from day 2 of their taper?
I've been tapering all summer. Can't wait to see the hills I have not been training for.
I am NOT in for 2010, but did the race in 2009. If you have not done IMWI before, feel free to contact me for any questions.
So ready to just get to it!! For me the first week of tapering is still plenty of hours...looking forward to next week, by race week I will probably be going crazy.
I agree with Lynn, my workouts aren't much different this week. But looking forward to the next two weekends, and also race day. I went out and rode part of the course back in June. The hills are any different than riding out in Poolesville area. They are non-stop rollers. Lets hope for a great day!
Question for the vets out there - where are the aid stations? I haven't been able to find anything specific on the interwebs. Here's what I've been able to glean:
10ish/100ish - Whalen Road on the way to Verona/back to Madison
29ish/71ish- Mt. Herob
39ish/81ish- Cross Plains
I'm assuming that there's a station in Verona, but do you pass by it 2x or 3x? This also means that there's nothing between Cross Plains and Verona but the three climbs, right?
have you tried reading this document?. It's got some pretty good info in it. In all likelihood, it will be the same this year.
Tuan - unfortunately, the course description's pretty vague, it just says "every 10 miles" or so. Not that it really matters in the end, I'm just working on a bar-top cue sheet.
Bib Numbers.... Time to Post Them:
Lynn Ratnavale #124
Suzy Burk #2614
Carol Maloney #2778
Ihan Kim #933
Angela Dilks #2644
Probably not much significance as a triathlete, but I always spend time on the run contemplating what happened during that year.
In the case of 1989, it was a monumental year:
Soviet Union pulls out of Afghanistan
Salman Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses"
Ted Bundy is executed
Exxon Valdez oil spill
Ayatollah Khomeini dies in Iran
Nintendo releases the "Game Boy"
Pete Rose agrees to a lifetime ban
First year of "The Love Parade" in Berlin
Operation Just Cause to overthrow Noreiga in Panama
First African American governor of Virginia (Wilder) and mayor of NY City (Dinkens)
Revolutions throughout Eastern Europe
Fall of the Berlin Wall
any other year would seem boring after that
Brad Jordan: 852.
See you all when you pass me.
Woot! Good luck
I don't even know how to wish someone good luck for an IronMan...
And when you're through, I *highly* recommend The Great Dane Brewpub, especially the APA or the Scotch Ale.
Enjoy Wisconsin! (my homeland)
Good luck and safe travels to all.
Go show 'em how it's done Lynn! You're my inspiration -- you ROCK!
