Get your NCC miles in this month with group fun runs every Sunday in February, starting and finishing at Potomac River Running in Arlington.
Feb 10, 17, & 24 @ 9am.
=PR= will provide various routes, offer secure bike/bag storage while you run, and help the club log our mileage -- and they are working to set up gear testing and giveaways each week with industry partners. More details TBD.
All speeds and distances welcome, sweaty brunch highly encouraged.
I'm not logging NCC miles, but I assume I can join this Sunday for a short run?
Absolutely, all are welcome whether you are registered for NCC or not!
Please plan to meet at 8:45 am to find a pace group and pick a route (or plan your own). The fabulous folks at =PR= have plotted three fun routes for us:
Mount Suribachi -- down to the Iwo Jima Memorial and back (~5 miles)
Rough Rider -- around Roosevelt Island and back ( ~8 miles)
Old Glory -- passing by monuments, parks, and historic landmarks too numerous to name ( ~12 miles)
These runs are exclusive to members of the DC Tri Club! You don't have to be a member of any particular training group. All paces & abilities are welcome! Wx for tomorrow looks great: sunny skies, temps around 30, low winds.
Here are the details...

The run will start at 9:00 a.m. however please arrive 15 minutes early to gear up, talk out pace groups, and review the 3 route options:
the "Mount Suribachi" which is a short run down to the Iwo Jima Memorial and back (~5 miles)

the "Old Glory" run which is a long run passing by national monuments, parks, and historic landmarks too numerous to name (~12 miles)
Thanks everyone who came out today, and thanks to =PR= for hosting! See you next Sunday.
Our friends at =PR= have officially moved!
These fun runs will now start and finish at their new address just a few blocks away in Ballston: 4501 N Fairfax Drive.
Routes have been updated to reflect the new store location
Potomac River Running =PR= Arlington
4501 N Fairfax Dr Arlington, Va 22203
(intersection of Fairfax & Glebe next to FedEx Kinkos)
Our awesome new digs are right at a half mile further west of our old location so a mile was added to these routes. The links from my previous post still work just fine so please review the routes and print a cue sheet if needed.
These routes are pretty amazing- we often find ourselves running the same old convenient / boring routes from home or work and forget the scenery & history DC has to offer. Also, these 3 routes all share the same opening miles so it's great to run as a large group.
Oh, and it's President's Day Weekend so these routes are quite fitting for the holiday. The Rough Rider runs the perimeter of Roosevelt Island and Old Glory passes by Roosevelt Island plus the Jefferson & Lincoln Memorials. If you want to go even longer than 13 miles, add in a quick detour around the Washington Monument!
And remember... the NCC participant logging the most miles on these =PR= group runs gets a FREE PAIR OF SHOES!!!
Looks to be a bit more chilly than last Sunday and possibly some snow flurries so I'll post a weather update tomorrow afternoon.
Come out tomorrow morning for the last DCTC NCC Sunday group run south of the Potomac.
Wx looks great... mid 40s, sunny skies, and low winds!!!
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE STARTING THIS RUN AN HOUR LATER (10:00 a.m.) TO ACCOMMODATE THE HIPsters as they will be joining us in force after their swim clinic right down the street.
Routes will be the same, though I may add a longer "Presidential" route for those really looking to pile on the miles!
Let's close out run month strong!!!
