Hello DC Tri Friends -

DC Capital Striders running group is excited for this new partnership with Potomac River Running Store (Ballston - thank you Matt Ferguson); Reza Mahbod (event host for the Tuesday and Thursday runs that begin from the store at 7 pm); DC Tri Club, and Adriana/Matt Anderson (founders of High Cloud Foundation).

We are extremely delighted that DC Tri club has agreed to place these runs on the training calendars and open to DC Tri members! As many of may know, the DC Capital Striders is a local running group; which schedules weekly runs at many locations around town including the National Mall, Capital Hill, Farragut Square, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Tenleytown, and even trail runs out at Difficult Run (Great Falls) and Alexandria. These runs are open to ALL runners regardless of skill or endurance level. The runs are great for any athlete from the beginner to advanced. While they are NOT part of any particular training for any distance races, many members participate in them.

The Tuesday and Thursday runs that Reza Mahbod leads are great and I welcome many of you to join along. Obviously, some DC Tri participants (including myself) enjoy the FreshBikes Tuesday evening rides so we can hook up with the runners after the Tuesday runs if you wish to ride. Keep updated on the DC Tri calendar for these runs, OR you can also check them out at www.dccapitalstriders.com which will lead you to www.meetup.com/dccapitalstriders-nova/ where we are hoping people sign up for these runs!

In the future, we also hope to bring in representatives from running shoe brands, as well as other industry reps to help us with fitness, training, and injury prevention methods. Ideas are also floating around for the last Thursday of each month to include food and drinks!!!

Thank you Reza, Matt, Adriana, DC Tri Club!!

We have lots of industry sponsors for these group runs in the coming weeks!

Next week at =PR= Arlington we have Asics coming out on Tuesday and Newton coming out on Thursday. They'll have shoes for you to try out during the group run and will have some free swag to give away. As always, we will provide beer, water, and gatorade for everyone post-run.

Then on Sunday morning, Newton's Director of Research & Education will be at =PR= Arlington to give a presentation on Natural Running. Ian Adamson is a world champion adventure racer and has worked on shoe design with major footwear manufacturers such as Nike and Salomon. If you've heard about natural running or you're thinking about the benefits of natural running and whether or not you should make the switch, this is an event you won't want to miss!

More details to follow on Monday.

Was going to come out for the run tonight, and wondered how parking is at 6:45. I assume the lot is already full with the Tuesday night riders. Any other good spots to park around the store?

There should be a few open spots right in front of the store. If they're all taken, the parking garage at Ballston Mall is one block down Wilson Blvd and only costs $1 (up to 3 hours).

I'll ask around to see if there is any good street parking as well. There is a neighborhood on the other side of Gold's Gym but I don't know whether street parking is regulated there.

More to follow...

RE: Tues & Thurs Evening NoVA Runs

ok- so I just did a full assessment of the parking situation.

There are 40 retail parking spots available to all bike shop & =PR= customers. The spots may be marked 'retail only' or 'Conte's only' but you can park in any of these spots. There are an additional 6 spots marked 'chiropractor'... our neighbor is a jerk and he'll have you towed so don't park there!!!

The first Tuesday of the month is the only ride that really draws a big crowd as everyone is looking to take advantage of the free beer & food. Turnout is light the rest of the month.

Though you should be able to park in our lot, there also appears to be plenty of options along Pollard & 6th (just on the other side of Gold's Gym) as well as the other streets in the adjacent neighborhood. The restrictions wouldn't apply at this time of the evening (2 hour limit, permit-only until 5P, etc).

So, all of that plus the $1 parking garage a block in the other direction and I'm pretty confident that we could have 100 runners show up in addition to whatever is going on next door and we'd be just fine.

Hope that helps!

Weather for tonight's run looks great... sunny with temps in the low 80's.

Adidas will be here with the Boston 3, Tempo 5, Aegis 2, and Adios 2 so come on out and rock the 3 Stripes during your run! If you demo a pair of Adidas during the run, your name will be entered into a drawing for some great prizes... including 2 chances to win a $50 gift certificate which you can use toward the purchase of a pair of Adidas running shoes here at =PR= Arlington!!!

As always, we'll have post-run beverages (water, gatorade, beer) for everyone so get your workout in... and then socialize with other local runners.

Please arrive 15 minutes early so that the run leader can review the route and discuss pace groups with everyone. All of these runs begin at =PR= Arlington and follow various local routes- distances typically range from 3-6 miles.

Hope to see y'all out tonight!

-Ferguson
