Registration is OPEN! Go to http://total200.com
Do a century before lunch, then turn around and do it again. It’s the only ride like it in the area. We’re looking forward to an awesome 5th annual Total 200 on July 11th, 2009.
HOW IT WORKS
Total 200 is a fully supported ride, thanks to our volunteers and sponsors. It’s a full day, and their support makes all the difference when you’re trying to go the distance.
The day starts at 5:00 am. with registration and orientation until 5:30 am. Meet other riders and wake up, pack your special needs bags into the lunch vehicle—so your things will be waiting for you when you get to lunch at the mid-point. We’ll review the rules of the ride, then be ready to roll at 5:45 am.
From our starting point, we’ll take a lap around the US Capitol before following Pennsylvania Avenue towards Maryland. You’ll find aid stations located about every 25 miles along the route, where you can refuel on Hammer Nutrition products, food, fruit, and water. Our stop at mile 100—Point Lookout State Park—is a full lunch stop.
Start to finish, bike tech support crews will make sure we stay on track and ride smoothly.
Once we return to Capitol Hill, we'll be greeted with a post ride celebration and ice cream cake from Ben & Jerrys.
After a few years of excuses I am finally IN.
How many people are participaring, and what's the average speed?
The average speed is around 18mph. Some groups go faster at about 20 and there are others that go a bit slower overall. But between 16-20. We're excited to be getting a larger group this year and we're going to ramp up our support so it's just as awesome as the past years.
Coming back after a year off... Where's my boys & gals at?? Especially those who know who they are.
Hello everyone- hopefully you signed up if you want to ride Total 200-- if not, make sure to sign up soon! We're also looking for some amazing volunteers like in years past. If you have any interest or have questions please let us know, post here or just go to our site (http://total200.com) and sign up there. Or if you know someone that might be a good fit - please pass it along to them.
Alright Eric, I signed up for your stupid ride.
See if you can line up a volunteer to spoon with me once we are done. Its the only way I can get to sleep when I do stupid stuff like this.
You can tell them that I promise to wash myself with the hose before we spoon.
What more could a lady want?
We're working to line up another star cast of volunteers (no spooning needed!). But seriously, if you're interested in volunteering we'd love to hear from you- just sign up on the site (total200.com) or post here or email us.
And we're excited to announce that Arrow Bicycle will be sponsoring the event with tech support and goodies.
looking forward to volunteering! there's always a great group of folks lending a hand. anyone else interested in helping out?!
I'll be back by then & would like to help out as well! My original plan had been to ride, but what better alternative?! I'm excited to once again have such a fabulous group of people to train with!
Jessica (Oldham) :-)
Jess thats awesome that you are finally coming back to the east coast. I know Eric needs volunteers but not riding? I would call you out but you are probably a stronger riding then me so I won't :-)
with the DC Tri Club (& its esteemed president) as my witness, I vow I'll ride the Total 200 next year! Hold me to it!
Its looking to be another HOTT one on Saturday. Over/under on me getting 3 flats?
UNDER. Just remember I'll be RIGHT on your wheel (for the first 50m)- so keep rolling until you call it out. ;)
I know it's last minute but we've lost quite a few volunteers in the last 24 hours and was hoping to get a few more on board. It is a long day - no question. But it's a fun time and critical to the success of the riders-- which are always extremely grateful! If you're interested - even for part of the day or emergency backup please contact JULIE -- jgserf _at_ gmail _dot_ com
THANKS DC Tri!
I volunteered a couple years ago and can say it was an awesome time. Seeing everyone out there crushing 200 miles fast and slow and being able to provide moral and nutritional support was extremely rewarding.
I would volunteer in a heartbeat again, but I have some retribution from last year that is sorely needed.
If you are even remotely thinking about it, you should do it...it is way more fun than volunteering at a triathlon I can tell you that!!!
Come on and help out, your services will be GREATLY appreciated for sure!
