Weather Policy: Check latest post for determining factors. Check weather.com "hourly forecast" for 8am Sat in zip 20003 (use the "feels like" temp).
IF you drop the ride on purpose PLEASE tell someone (preferably the ride leaders) so we don't go looking for you. Not only is it nice but it is REQUIRED. It is a group ride and we do monitor how many riders we have- we don't leave people behind and we hold up at top of climbs to re-group.
Usually we go up MacArthur Blvd. to Great Falls, then up River Road.
SAT March 7 is ON. Who wants to go ride around great falls and enjoy the warm weather? It's going to be over 50 degrees at 8am! So by 11am it'll be like Arizona hot (almost). How about an 8am start?
I'm in. Gotta break in the new bike!
what is the distance this week?
I'm interested in going a little bit longer than the standard winter route which is about 40/30 miles (from cap hill/georgetown). Would be nice to get out to Seneca (55/45) or even out to Poolesville (72/62). But willing to ride with what the group wants. Patrick? Chad?
Seneca sounds good. I need to run afterwards
Anyone that did not race across america last year riding tomorrow? I was thinking Seneca but given the weather it wouldn't take much to convince me to do Poolesville.
I know that Chad is coming out and rumblings from other folks.
As a non-RAAM participant, who usually could keep Liza in my general zip code, Joe, I have 70 on the schedule for tomorrow, and will be running afterwards.
I'll be taking my usual route:
probably coming across 28 to cut off the miles in the section out there. If anyone hasn't been on the section that cuts over on W. Offutt to Edward's Ferry to Martinsburg/Dickerson, it's a really nice part of the ride (and I actually saw about 6 other cyclists on that stretch 2 weeks ago, which is probably the most I've ever seen; cars are rare on that stretch). It also conveniently takes you near the Dickerson market, which has an overhang if it's pouring, and bathrooms, I think.
I've got a paper deadline on Monday, so I wouldn't be able to make plans to meet a group, but always love to have company in passing! Black Felt, lots of non-roadie-water bottles - feel free to make fun of me! See you guys out there!
anyone plannig on doing the shorter ride of aorund 30-40 miles? i'm probably going to do the shorter ride.
not ready for the 60 milers, i've been slacking all winter.
I'm mulling the MacArthur route ride vs the Washington-Lee ride.
Who is in for this Saturday. Maybe push back the start to 9 from the hill to avoid the AM rain. I am looking to get out to the T so 56 miles. Anyone?
I'm IN for the ride- let's see how the weather develops today and then set a starting time?
Any update on time for this on 3/28? 8? 9? I'm likely in either way.
I plan to get 40 - 50 in (meaning ~35-40 from G-town) if the weather doesn't put me on the trainer. Let me know when you're rolling through georgetown, I'll check weather early.
Any definite time for this?
My apologies for not getting back to you all sooner. But between the rain and my allergies I'm taking a rest day. I'll work out an earlier schedule next time.
Eric et al, Allergies are hitting me hard as well - I slept in and will be on the trainer shortly. Hopefully we'll have a dry weekend next week and can get on the roads. Enjoy your weekend and get the rest you need, that's my goal!
Trainer probably would have been a good idea. I checked in at DD at 9, and took off on a ride a bit after that. I'm a bit numb. Will be back at DD for coffee and donuts shortly. Ben
