For first time DC tri club riders (but not first time riders:), is the Sat morning ride tomw a good one to try? Or should I come to the Hains Pt. ride Tuesday morning instead?

And to confirm: Sat time from GTown is 7:30 am? What is route?

Thanks,
Melissa

The 'A' group of riders will usually average 20-22 mph on the ride and sometimes push even harder depending on everyone's fram of mind.

The 'B' group varies from week to week. Sometimes there is no B group out there and when they are they will typically average 17-19.

I hope that helps. If you're looking for other options, Tues-Thurs is a good ride and there are usually a couple of different pace groups out there.

For long rides, there is also a Sunday ride led by Tuan but I don't know all of the exact info on that. They usually depart from G-town at Wisco. and M St. NW at 7:00am. That's about all I know but it is a good group of folks.

That's right - this weekend we'll leave from Cap Hill at 7am, and roll thru G-town at 7:30am. Since we "roll-thru" that means we might be +/- 5 minutes, but we just roll thru (no waiting) and pick up whoever is there.

As far as the ride- it's a pretty face paced group ride with a few re-group points. As long as you've ridden in groups you'll be fine. But the Hains Point rides are great too.

There's a route link on the first post of this thread-- that's the short loop and we add to that from Great Fall out depending on the length of the ride.

just come out to the ride, you won't know unless you try it out.

there is no embarrassment in being dropped, its happened to everyone. ok there is a slight amount of embarassment but hey that is what makes a group ride fun the ability of people to have a sense of humor and rib on other people.

I'm new to the area and need people/places to do long rides. How long are your saturday rides? Are their cue sheets for us newby's?

Thanks -

There are a couple people looking to go steady tomorrow so they would probably be the B group.

There is one person in the "A" group that has to do a hard hour from the top of great falls to Poolesville essentially so he will be the solo individual in the A++ Group...so would that make the A group really the B group?

I just confused myself...

Departure time is 7am this saturday as well..

^^wait, is Patrick going to tow us for an hour. That was kinda fun. It was like motorpacing.

7:30 from Gtown as usual?

7am from Cap Hill, and 7:27 thru G-town.

Clarification: If a solo rider breaks from the A group, that's an attack. If riders follow, that's a chase. The rest are riding steady.

Andy- Phil says if you can't ride 22mph for 73 miles, how do you expect to ride 112 at 21? Also, Andy, Phil says to put on some more of the poor man's chamois butter.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I am new to the area, and was wondering if tomorrows ride is still on, and if so, what time it leaves?
