There's a great ride planned for this Saturday! TOTAL 200 -- a two hundred mile ride in one day starting from DC, going to Point Lookout Park and then coming back! Check it out- http://total200.com

Hmm, as fun as that sounds, anyone up for a ride in the double-digits out of Capitol Hill?

It will be hot, but will there still be a ride this Saturday? I should be good with a few waterstops. I just moved back to Northern VA from Florida, so I am used to the heat.

I'm planning on heading out from the golf course gate around 7:00 AM to beat the heat (hopefully the gates will be open by then).

I am in but want to see if anybody is starting at Capital Hill. I have not been to DC in while so I will need someone to lead the way for me.

I might go for part of the 50-60 miler, to get in some hills before heading to a swim. An earlier start, like 7 am, would be better for me.

Hey guys,

I'm visiting from Columbia, MO, for the next few weeks and would love some training partners. I'm looking to ride 80-100mi on Sat, 18-20mph. Can I join your party? If I can tag along with you guys for 50-60mi, that'd sure beat a solo century.

Thanks!
Jessica

Jessica- Sure! Come join us!

Do you all want to start at 7:30AM instead due to the fact that SAT is suppose to be the hottest day of the year so far?
If anyone wants to coordinate via phone instead, here is my number 703-786-1270

Sounds like a couple of pace groups are going to be heading out on Saturday. It'll be great to see some new faces out there.

A small group will be leaving from Cap. Hill at 7:00am and rolling through G-Town at 7:30 and hopefully we'll pick some folks up there. Then we can head out to the Resevoir together before maybe spreading out on MacArthur.

One note: The lead group will frequently turn onto Mountain Gate Rd. to get a couple of hills in before Great Falls. You can see what I mean at mile 15 of THIS MAP. We'll try to wait a couple of minutes at Great Falls and regroup before heading on out towards the T at Seneca.

This is not a 'no drop' ride but I do like making sure that everyone is accounted for when I'm out there so please make sure you've got a cue sheet or map if this is your first time. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

It's great having multiple speeds represented so that no one rides alone so please post if you're going to ride and what speed you'd like to ride. The more we do this, the more people will come out!

Oh man, I don't want to be the new person AND the slow person! Anybody in the 18-20mph range? If not, I may head east and follow part of the total 200 route.

Jessica... I wasn't trying to scare anyone off. Just encouraging people to share their goals to hopefully encourage other riders to join in. It's fun seeing a few groups of DC Tri people out there on the road.

If you can hold 20mph you may be able to hold a wheel and stick with the group. That's usually what I end up having to do. What typically happens is that once we get past the reservoir people start hitting it pretty hard until Great Falls (miles ~10-20). Then it typically levels off for a while.

If you fall behind, we'll try to regroup at the corner of MacArthur and Falls Roads before heading out to the T. When we work in the turn off on Mountain Road it usually helps everyone arrive at MacArthur and Falls about the same time.

If you haven't ridden out this way before, this route is much more scenic than the Total 200 course. And generally a lot easier on the tires.

Great! Good to hear there will be a few different pace groups.

To the Capital Hill Crew...
Where/when do you want to meet the Gtown group? Wisconsin and M at 7:30AM at the bank parking lot?

Anyone else concerned about the heat? 102-105 is the latest!

Yeah -- water up. This heat is really start to wear on me.

Cap Hill crew will roll through between 7:25-7:30. You won't miss us.
