I have work Friday unfortunately. I'm going to ride Friday morning at HP at 6:30am. A tad too cold tomorrow.
I am going to start riding Hains Point mornings this week if anyone wants to join.
I'll only be there Tuesday this week, but I plan on going T/TH at the normal time after that.
I just bought a new tri bike and need to get in a few good rides this week so I can get it fitted up before my first race. Is anyone going to be riding this coming week? (early or late doesn't matter)
I just bought a new tri bike and was thinking the same thing .. I was thinking Tuesday or Friday depending on the weather ..
I am thinking Tuesday at around 5:30 PM.
I'll be out tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM at the stop sign at Buckeye and Ohio. Just going to do laps for about an hour.
I'm planning to be out there at 6:30 am as well. See you (and anyone else we can entice) at the stop sign.
What pace & distance do y'all typically do at the HP mornings? Not sure I'll make tomorrow, but I'm gonna try to be there in the future!
P-Sizzle, do you have a workout in mind or are you just going for cruise-y laps? Not that we ever really just "cruise"...
I'm not aloud to play for 6 weeks, or until this stress fracture gets beter, but I plan on sucking some wheels out there with you all this year.
Open to other input, but in its absence, I was planning to do long loops in zone 2-3 (mostly steady state), with some accelerations from the bottom of Hains Point to the bathroom line that more or less marks the end of the short loop.
For me, zone 2-3 is up to a heart of 162 and depending on the size of the group and wind that's about 20-25mph, with accelerations going faster for that short bit and probably slower right afterwards to recover.
If anyone is interested in a different pace group, like other workouts, please just post so coordination can occur.
Also, for any of you that might have been intimidated by some of these workouts in the past, please come out now while many of us are coming out of hibernation and aren't in peak shape yet. You'll get in better shape and you'll improve with the group throughout the season--the more the merrier!
You can always cut through the parking lot at the bottom of the short loop or make your u-turn at the top of the long loop early to catch-up with the group again. It's the easiest way to keep the group together without massively changing the speed of the group and the overall workout.

see you guys out there at 6:30 (or 6:36, i.e p-sizzle). hopefully i can dig up the light, looks like sunup isn't until 7:10a.
I'll be there tomorrow at 6:30. Anyone else?
I think there's a pretty slim chance I'll be there until it warms up and the sun is out at 6:30. Mornings are not my specialty.

I've been going down for the noon rides at HP. If anyone else is interested I'll probably be on that schedule until there is more light and warmth. There's a big group and if there are enough DC Tri peeps we can start our own train.
hey all - i'm new to the group but have been doing some afternoon and evening rides recently. not sure the pace you guys cycle at, but i'd be up for a noon or post-5 pm ride this week. anyone heading out tomorrow or friday?

Just a reminder: tourist season has started down at Hains point. Be careful.
I forgot about it and went down there this afternoon. Big, big mistake. I only did one lap before going home, and I probably could have gotten run over at least 5 times if I was paying as little attention as many of the drivers.
Four of us will be down at HP tomorrow (Tuesday, 3/29) at 6:30am for a workout. We meet in front of the pool parking lot.
We'll be doing this workout, part of the HIM program:
Warm-up for 15 minutes, then do 2 x 5:00 building to zone 4 and holding. Recover for 2 minutes after each. Then do 2 x 5:00 building to zone 4 - only this time, shift between your comfortable gear and the next higher gear every 30 seconds. Recover for 3 minutes after each. Cool down for the remainder of the ride in zone 1-2.
