wow- sorry to hear about that.
i'd really like to join you all. are you riding this thursday? if so, please let me know when/where you meet up.
Sean- Glad you rolled it off and it wasn't serious- and didn't take me down with you. See ya out there.
Charlie- we always meet up at 6:30a at the stop sign by the Tennis parking lot. If you get there late ride backwards until you see us-- then turn around BEFORE we reach you so you have a chance to catch a wheel.
Yeah, Sean, glad to see you're typing and ok. I hope the bike is ok too.
Phil
thanks eric, see you all thursday? what is the pace like?
The pace varies but prepare yourself to go hard. As long as you hang on a wheel it's usually fine.
Sean -- I hope your bike turns out okay. I didn't see the fall.. Just the aftermath. Take it easy the next couple of days because it looks like you'll be a little sore. Get those wounds cleaned out really well and get some tegaderm to stick over it. You'll sleep much better and it'll heal up faster.
Ditto on the well wishes Sean. That tegaderm stuff is really the bomb diggity and worth finding. You can shower with it, it helps prevent infection and all the stuff Travis said about sleeping and healing faster--and shave your legs if you haven't! (after it heals--MUCH less road rash)
For Thursday, I've got either 2x10 mins z5, but low cadence (~70) or 1 x 30 mins (also low cadence). For 10 mins, I'd expect the pace to be at about 27 and for 30mins, more like 25-26. I'll post tomorrow or feel free to respond with your preference. I'm going to be out of town this weekend, so I'll be riding longer than the usual 6:30-7:30, but will make sure the intervals are during that regular time period for anyone who wants to join in.
Thanks for the suggestion on the Tegaderm. Never heard of it before, but it sounds like a wise investment.
That's so generous of you Patrick. Thanks for making sure that I'll be able to be there for your 30 mph intervals. Really. Sounds awesome.
It looks like my workout will be 2x10 mins in zone 17.
Sweet, is that the zone where all the trees turn pink?
For anyone not familiar, tegaderm's basically a waterproof bandage that you put over the whole roadrash area(s). Shave the places where the adhesive of the bandage will stick; wash and disinfect the wound, really, really well; follow the directions and apply. If the wound drains, the bandage will hold that liquidy goodness inside and it will also prevent outside gunk from getting inside. Refer to the directions for details, but basically you leave it on for a couple days and let the natural healing happen underneath.
In response to popular demand, tomorrow, I'm planning to cruise for 1 long warm-up lap starting at 6:30 and then beginning a 1x30 min interval at zone 5 (all out, but obviously not a sprint since it's 30 mins). The rest will be at a low aerobic pace (zone 1-2). Hope you can join the fun!
How can 1x30min all out be popularly demanded?! Sick. Just sick, P-Sizzle.
Patrick is not lying. The number one thing we found in our member survey was that there were not enough 1 x 30 on HP rides where Patrick was pulling everyone.
yuck--it's raining pretty steady. I'm going to opt for the 1x30min nap interval.
Smart man. Anyone want to ride tonight instead?
Im up might as well get into work early and leave early. I will be at HP around 430
Bobby
Rain? What a bunch of ... sheeesh. I wish you all had been there so I wouldn't have missed the 30 minute mark and end up doing 43 minutes and 17 seconds. I guess an afternoon cool-down session is in order.
I am in for this evening as well.. what time are people meeting up?
I'm heading out now for a quick spin, and dip, on the way home, arriving at Ohio Dr. c. 6:20.
ok. heading down now. hope to catch up with you all.
i have a black cervelo p2sl - red/white giro helmet
Black Cervelo P2SL and a red/white giro helmet... Good thing that there won't be a lot of those at Haines on a Thursday when all the cyclist come out... j/k Actually was riding with Tuan yesterday, every black Cervelo that we passed or passed us, I said, "Charlie???" About after the fifth time Tuan, who is vietnamese looked at me and said,"That just plain rude."
