Planning on it. How does this sound:
45min z2 with 10min at z3, rpm for the interval around 45 (overgearing to build power)
I'll be there
Sounds good. See you at 6:30. Sean
Can you email me. I have a couple questions
May see you out there. Will be working on 3x10' @ FTP,
Ya'll meeting @ 6:30 on corner of Buckeye and Ohio like last season? I'll try to be there, looking forward to getting back into the swing of things with the group.
What days and when does the group meet? I'm biking on Wednesday mornings at Hains Point.
T/R at 6:30am. Meet at corner of Buckeye and Ohio.
Solid ride this morning. We doubled from the two of us last week, so this is a good trend.
Hope to see more of you out there next week. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 AM at a minimum and other times as folks want to coordinate on this thread. If I'm out riding, I'll post here the night before and include a suggested workout (probably what my coach prescribes) but am happy to go with the will of the group if that's different.
In terms of speeds, when more people show up, normally several groups form. Often the group starts out together and then subgroups naturally form as the pace picks up. If you're concerned about the speed or anything else, post what you're looking for ahead of time and that may encourage folks with similar interests to seek you out. If it's too fast (because you're pushing yourself, which is good!), you can always cut the corner at the south end (by going through the parking lot) to catch up or at the top of the long loop between the bridge and the Lincoln.
Looking forward to seeing more of a peleton next week!
BTW, a number of people, especially NTPers, have been asking how to get faster on the bike. These rides, which stress speed over distance, are a good way to do so, kind of like the way track workouts make for faster running. And, as with group swim workouts, you'll find yourself going faster just by virtue of having "peer pressure" all around you, as opposed to just slogging along yourself in a pool.
Patrick's group is quite fast. But typically, especially as the weather gets warmer, knots of people of all types of speed head out there, where you can train pretty much unimpeded by cars.
Given the ramping up of this thread and newbies and veterans alike coming off a long winter...brush up or read for the first time the following, it will save your life as well as your bike and prevent road rash...
Does anybody know the status of using the bathroom / showers at the Tennis facility at HP?
I know that towards the end of last season they stopped allowing "public" use of the bathrooms and I had to start showering at the pool before heading straight to work. I was told that it was because a lady was attack (by a homeless woman) in the bathroom. And apparently just buying a Gatorade wasn't enough to consider me a "patron" and you actually had to play tennis. It didn't seem to make sense to me considering it's on NPS land and run by them, but not my call .
Anyone else coming out tomorrow? I'll be out. No rain.
I figure if the end of the island is flooded, we can just ride the backside back and forth. I think the backside stays dry.
I'll be there. Thinking about 1:20h z2 with 15min at z4, rpm for the interval 65-70.
Tried to spot you guys this AM, but didn't have much luck... did you guys do a couple loops and then just decide to take pics of the blossoms with all the other photogs?
Andy- if you had time to look at the blossoms then you weren't in the proper zone. z4 man, keep up.
FYI - the lunch rides down there these days are a blast! A little like the SuperG event.
See you guys out there in the morning. I've got steady state scheduled, z1/2, but something tells me that's not going to happen. See you out there!
Nice ride this AM. I need more of that...
How was it this morning? Want to get some laps in tomorrow morning, but if its all tourists and buses I may pass...
