"The first 70.3 in Prince Georges National Harbor on August 5, 2012 Registration Opens January 16!
Description Ironman 70.3 National Harbor is a participant and spectator friendly course and temendous all-in-one race venue. The day begins with a single loop clockwise swim in the Potomac River, a single loop rolling-hill bike course through beautiful Maryland followed by a single loop run course along the cool refreshing and shaded Henson Creek trail. The high energy finish line is in downtown National Harbor in front of the famous Awakening statue adjacent to the River. The Expo, packet pickup, transition area, swim start and finish line are all within easy walking distance of each other."
Will they be giving away any chocolate?
Will they be giving free fluid replacement for finishers? August in DC is not known for its moderate climate...
lousy time of year and based on hot chocolate race, probably a lousy venue.
I believe they are capping it at around 3k participants (though someone more officially involved may want to chime in to that) to avoid many of the problems encountered with Hot Chocolate. As for the temps, its an Ironman, its supposed to be brutal.... Just saying :)
Chuck, the race director, "competed" in the hot chocolate race and knows not to let any of that happen as his race. Plus the reg numbers will be way less than Hot chocolate fiasco.
don't act like you guys haven't done an endurance event in the heat!! :P get your asses out there! it's local
Registration opens at noon today and the courses are posted:
Don't forget that we have negotiated a discount for the race.
So who is in? I signed up.
