PeasantMan LLC, Inc, PhD, and ABC is proud to announce a second race in our PeasantMan Triathlon Series (PTS). The new race is called, PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan. New Kabul Compound (NKC) is the name of the Afghanistan base where the event will take place. U.S. Army Major David Cheek, a former Arlington resident and DCTri Club member, pitched the idea of PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan to his Garrison Command. Subsequently, approvals have been given for this race to take place on Veteran's Day (Nov 11), in the morning. The winners will be officially announced during a Veterans Day Base Ceremony, in the afternoon.
As many personnel on Major Cheek's base are from or have ties to people in DC, all participants of PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan will receive free entries to PeasantMan Lake Anna, once they've returned to U.S. soil. The entry fee for PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan is $0.
If successful, Major Cheek and his two partners, Navy LT Al Rasquinha and Air Force Capt Aaron Kirchoff, plan to make PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan a monthly event, with varying formats (Team vs Individual) and distances (Sprint vs Olympic). The first one will be a sprint team relay consisting of 4K rowing machine, 10K indoor bike, and 5K treadmill run.
This is NOT a one year/one time event. With your support, we hope to continue this tradition until all of our arm forces have returned to U.S. soil from Afghanistan. Although no donations are currently requested, in the future, we can look at sending Peasantman T-shirts or care packages, donated by you and PeasantMan America, directly to Afghanistan. We will also look at the possibility of expanding the event to other bases.
As many of you are aware, our troops are quite isolated in their movements and leisure activities while in Afghanistan. Hopefully, this race will enable them to experience some form of normalcy outside of the war zone, perhaps even boosting moral. Please pass the word along if you can.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan Race Director, Major David Cheek, (firstname.lastname@example.org) or you can drop me an email at email@example.com.
Just an update.
PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan registration have exceeded our goal. The RD decided to split the race to two different days to meet the demand and fill the void left by the cancellation of the Marine Corps shadow Marathon that was supposed to take place on base.
We are looking at possibly doing a shadow PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan in DC during the winter months to coincide with the next one on base.
PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan Recap:
We had a very successful race on Veteran's Day, with about 3x the number of participants that we were expecting. The list of participants including enlisted soldiers as well as many senior officers. The age group winners were given certificates, signed by one of the Generals on base.
We are looking at holding another event in December. This event may include a Shadow PeasantMan NKC Afghanistan race, to be held in the DC area, with all proceeds going toward the Wounded Warrior Project charity. Stay tuned.
This is pretty cool. I look forward to a DC Shadow event. By the way is there a date for the 2014 Peasantman?
PeasantMan Lake Anna is Sunday, May 4th 2014.
Registration will be announced on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/peasantman once we get all the bums on the PeasantMan War Council to start thinking about something other than food, shelter, and their first born.
Can we send volunteers?
