From a non-triathlete friend seeking advice. She's already been to a couple doctors and chiropractors but haven't found a real solution.
"I ruptured my L5-S1 disc playing volleyball. First couple of months I was dealing with the regular back and sciatica pain. Then came this tail-bone pain that hurt with any impact, like running, jumping (obviously); putting on socks, leaning forward in a slight tilt...It has been called "referred pain" by my spine doctor, but I think it is caused by something else.
Would anyone know any good chiropractors, acupuncturists that might help? Or any other alternatives?
Thanks so much for your help!"
Chiro: Dr. Martin (Marty) Skopp, 1701 Belle View Boulevard, Alexandria, VA 22307 (703) 721-9600; Dr. Skopp volunteers at DC Tri and Nations and practices Active Release Technique that also works on muscles and tissues around the area in question. He is excellent and I would not let anyone touch me, but him for chiro care.
PT: Our merchant partners - Sports & Spinal Physical Therapy, 2175 K Street, NW WDC - 202-463-7611 - Robert Gillanders or Sonja Evers are both super terrific.
