With Boston Marathon selling out in 8 hours this year vs. 9 weeks last year, I'm curious who else in the club was lucky enough to get in? Would also interested in finding someone in the Arlington area to do long runs with at about a 7:30 pace leading up to the race.

I got in after multiple tries around 11 am. My training pace is a bit more casual than 7:30.
Good Luck!

A friend of mine qualifies every year. She is a super runner. This year she is not running Boston and running the "I am P%$V#D off at Boston and running Naragansett." See website link above. It looks like a super nice course.

Good luck and happy training to all,

After 9 straight years, I am also "done" with Boston. I will probably run the Gansett Marathon. The race is put on by the Narragansett Running Association; aka the NRA. I volunteered last year and it is a first class event. The new course should be great. I have raced on parts of it during the Blessing of the Fleet 10 miler.

As a member of the NRA myself, I can certainly give a good vote for the race organizers for anyone considering doing that race as well. The course that will be used this year will certainly be flat, and scenic though probably subject to some cold winds if its a chilly day- hard to say that time of the year. Granted, is also cuts through the Harbor where all the fishermen park their boats, so I'm not sure how much you will enjoy those scents mid way through your race. Whatever the case, its mostly along the ocean which will be nice. Oh, and looks like it goes by or really close to the house from "Me Myself and Irene." Random neat fact.

If anyone decides to do it and wants any tips about the area, let me know- its my hometown :)

In for my first Boston and up for some training runs. I look forward to the day where I will have experienced as many Bostons as Kevin and submitting an application 30+ times will no longer be worth the hassle.

Unfortunately, I did not get in. I thought I was going to have at least a week to register (at least, considering prior years). But, I am taking full responsibility for not getting online at 9 AM. Still, pretty disappointed. 2012!

Who am I missing?

Adam and I are trying to get together for dinner. Let me know if anyone is interested."
