Join us at the William H. Rumsey Pool (635 North Carolina Ave.. SE) at Eastern Market morning swim sessions. We typically have 2-3 lanes and all abilities are represented. Swims last 1 - 1.5 hours.

Eastern Market Swims are famous for their "Fun Friday" sessions. You won't want to miss out.

Travis, what time do these sessions usually start? Are there ever evening sessions?

M/W/F's there are people in the pool at 6:30 a.m. Usually a faster and a slower lane.

There isn't really evening lap swimming available at EMP, sadly, so there's no group then.

Since this question may help others, and I've never been down to EMP before ... Right now, I think I'll be at EMP next week M/W, or at least one of the days due to staying downtown for a conference most of the week - Phil & Travis, are you guys still posting workouts in advance, and is there any focus to the workouts? Just trying to plan next week's schedule.

Thanks,
Anathea

Is there going to be a swim workout this Friday (March 6th) ? I live in the Capitol Hill area and just joined the NTP so I thought I could start training here.

Thanks!

Just Checking Shay's message, I assume that the Friday swims are still on at Easter Market?

Where is the best place to park?

You can usually find a parking spot on North Carolina or a metered spot on 7th. PAY THE METER. Every time I've tried to sneak in and not pay I've gotten a ticket. I'm pretty sure the parking enforcement people just sleep at Eastern Market.

I'm pretty sure a group is still going but if you twist my arm I'll come and swim Friday morning.

I would just like to thank the folks in the fast lane this morning for tolerating me, the token "slow" DC Tri-er in the bunch. Hopefully I won't be the only one in the slow lane on Friday. I swear the lifeguard was watching me, waiting for me to start flailing and gasping for air.

Sorry to miss you all. I burned my hand badly over the weekend and will not be back in the pool at least until next week. We can designate a second not so fast lane !

Hi,

I'm completely new to the tri world and how to train for it. I'm completely in the dark on how to prepare for the swim aspect of the sprint tri. I know how to swim so I'm an adequate swimmer, I think...it's been a while. Anyway, I've never done a swim workout before. I was wondering if anyone would be at the pool this Friday, June 5th and would be willing to guide me through a swim workout. Please let me know I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Thanks,
Johanna

Hi Johanna,

there will be someone there. I expect to be there. We swim in the two lanes closest to the walking area.

See you then.

Hi Martha,

Thanks for your reply. I just found out that I have a meeting this Friday at 8am so I won't be able to make the swim workout this Friday. Are there people from the DC tri club on a regular basis? I really wanted to go so I'm bummed that I can't make it this Friday.

Nice swim this morn (Melissa Z). Nothing like warm water (and warm showers) on a cold Monday morn.

Are there any membership or user fees for the Eastern Market pool on those mornings? Recent moved to the Hill. Haven't been in the pool since IMLV, so I need to get some lane time over the Winter.

Cheers
Collin

No membership fee. Free for District residents.

It was 3-4 to a lane this morn.

What are the fees for non-residents?
