Athena/Clydesdale vs. Age Group Racing
POSTED: 7/30/09 4:11 PM

So I'm new to tris, and I'm wondering about racing in the Athena division vs. my age group. Looking at times, it seems like Athena tends to be a little slower than my age group. I don't know what the procedure is for racing in that group, could anyone explain this to me? I'm close enough to the cut off that I'm not sure if on race day I'll qualify for that division so I would love some advice!

Thanks,
Katie

Check the scale when you are signing up. If your over the weight then go for the weight division, if not, go with the age group. You can check your weight about a week out from the race, if you need to adjust the category and still can, then change your profile. It is mostly on the honor system. One running race had a scale at weigh in. They encouraged you to weigh in with your shoes on. Hope this helps and enjoy the race!
