Souping up a mountain bike
POSTED: 4/23/09 1:28 PM

I'm finally getting around to fixing up my old but beloved mountain bike for Tri season. Smooth tires and clipless pedals are the obvious first steps. Any suggestions on modifications or the best bike store for this?

1. Make sure the break pads are in good working order
2. Check the chain and the cassette to make sure that they are not warned out and properly lubricated
3. Make sure the gear shifting is smooth
4 Consider a tune-up at a bike shope. They may give you lots of good recommendations once they've checked out your bike
5 Bike shop: Conte and Bike Rack are merchant partners and seem to get good reviews from club members
