While too much is always too much, is the takeaway from this that absolutely no effort should be made to drink while on the bike, rather just let thirst control?
Yeah, that's kind of what I took from it...which really surprised me. I wasjust finishing Dean Karnazes' book last night and there's a section at the end where he has sort of a run on common questions he gets asked when he talks to other runners. Anyway, one quetion was about hydration and he actually says that he feels that if he waits to drink until he is thirsty that he's waited too long. I have to admit, that was my assumption too and is why I always force myself to drink at specific intervals on the bike and run, regardless of whether I'm thirsty or not.
