Anyone doing or have done the MTS - Rock Hall Tri.

Oly is on a Sat (6-1-2013); Sprint on Sunday (6-2-2013).

Wondering about logistics if I drive down day of -
1) Will there be competing beach traffic on the Sat?
2) Better to consider the Sprint on Sun or will traffic still be a nightmare.

Did you stay overnight? Trying to avoid this.

I did the race last year. There should be no issue with traffic is you're planning to drive the morning of.

I did the olympic last year, and stayed overnight. My wife and I stayed at a BnB the night before, there is also a campground you can stay at.

I know a fair amount of people that showed up the morning of and had no issues.

It's a good race, easy course and completely flat. The swim is a salt water swim and completely calm, it's in a protected marina.

I too did this race last year and loved it. I did the sprint and it is indeed flat but since it's on the water the wind is pretty strong. I drove down the morning of and had no problem. I think it took around 2 hours or so from near American Univ. The race is too early for beach traffic. On the way back I didn't encounter any traffic either. Drive did take awhile, but if you like the bucolic towns - it's a great escape.
