I'm going to the SSPT OWS Clinic this Sunday at Sandy Point (http://www.ssptdc.com/services/open-water-swim-clinic.asp) and I'd like to bike around 40-50 miles afterwards.
Anyone else interested in biking after? Know a good route?
I might be interested in doing that with you. I'd love to do the open water clinic as well. Where do I find info on that?
I was hoping to bike after the clinic as well, but as a bike novice was thinking more in the 10-15 mile range. Any route suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
PeasantMan is like a gift that keeps giving. Below is the PeasantMan 2010 bike cue sheet. It starts at Sandy Point and goes through the Naval Academy, downtown Annapolis, and Saigon. Don't thank me ... thank humanity.
Thanks Tuan! You are my favorite deity this week :)
I'm in for doing two loops after the swim clinic if weather is decent!
Was thinking the same thing depending on the weather.
A popular variant of that ride is to turn north at mile 7, riding up Rte 450/2 to College Parkway, then east back to Sandy Pt. It's a longer, hillier, less urban route. Watch out for the highway underpass tho not long after the turn.
Weather for Sunday looks like a wash out for biking :( I still plan on attending the swim workshop and I'll probably throw the bike in the car just in case!
I'm in for the swim clinic and will bring my bike with hopes the rain waits until the afternoon!
Anyone want to arrive at 7:45 to get some swimming in before the clinic?
Is anyone able to give me a ride to the clinic on Sunday? Assuming it's not a downpour, I'm up for a ride, too.
Where at Sandy Point are we gathering?
for the swim clinic?
The beach. Straight out from the bathrooms and concession stands.
Sweet swim clinic. More a swim workout. 80-100 people, broken up into 4-5 groups based on experience and Fear of the Water. After instructors' talks, over an hour of swimming along 3-4 buoys, then brief runs along the beach back to the starting point for another loop. Hill ride afterwards. Red, Hot, and Blue after that. Water temps at Sandy Pt. now up to an invigorating c. 67.
Someone left their DC Tri Club water bottle on the wall after the clinic. It looks brand new. If that was you, shoot me a message and we can figure out when to get it back to you.
