Bike Show for a good cause
POSTED: 4/24/09 3:40 PM

Why they are a good cause:
PHOENIX BIKES IS A NON-PROFIT YOUTH PROGRAM whose mission is to develop youth leaders and social entrepreneurs through hands-on learning experiences and service to the greater DC cycling community.

OUR VISION is to provide a fun, safe, and challenging environment for local youth through building & running great community bike shops. We believe this is a unique way for young leaders to learn teamwork, explore social entrepreneurship, develop business and leadership skills, and serve others.

What the event is:

Online discount ends April 26th!

Our region has many cyclists who deserve to be seen!

At BIKE SHOW 2009, 10 of DC Metro's most extraordinary cyclists will be profiled in a portrait of the region's diverse culture on the move. The portraits, bicycles, and people behind it all will come together with fanfare and food, bike-blended smoothies, as well as a silent auction, a chance to win a commuter bike customized by Phoenix Bikes, and lots more fun.

When: April 30th, 7-9pm
Where: the Dome Theater (Old Newseum Bld.) in Rosslyn

The BIKE SHOW is Phoenix Bikes' yearly Birthday Bash & Spring Fundraising event. Our first year's celebration was a great success. For 2009, the BIKE SHOW is back and better than ever with a focus on showcasing DC Metro's Extraordinary Cyclists!

Explore DC Basket - get to know our Nation's capital with tickets to museums, bike rentals and tunes from the acclaimed Capitol Steps
Home energy improvement – professional home energy audit to make your home green and save some green too
Marrakesh Feast - immerse yourself in Morrocan culture with live entertainment and a grand seven course dinner
and many others...
two incredible raffle bikes:

A Novara Scot Nicol-designed, high quality steel touring frame with drop bars & bar-end shifters, 26" wheels, custom painted by Pohanka Collision and outfitted for year-round commuting
and the amazing company of friends and fellow cyclists
And you won't have any excuses since this year's location is convenient to the Bike Path (indoor bike valet!), the Rosslyn Metro, and free parking at the Spectrum Theater. Be careful on the way home though - thanks to Capitol City Brewing, the beer will be an improvement this year too. A night you don't want to miss!
