We had a room block (had to call by May 27th for the $95 rate) at the Sheraton Center City so some of us are staying there. I don't have any room in the car or room to help you out but hopefully someone else does.
We also have a pre-race dinner planned for Saturday night at 7pm. Go to the Shop tab for more info and to purchase before tomorrow at noon.
See you in Philly!
I have one of the block of rooms. It's got two beds. I think they are smaller doubles. Its yours if you want to split it. I think the room rate was around $95. I'm only staying up there Saturday night so will probably get to Phili around noon. Still trying to figure out where to leave my car after checking out Sunday morning.
Here is another slacker... I've got transportation... and a bib number... but no place to rest my weary head. If you've got room for a Clydesdale, give me a holler.

PS: Did someone mention dinner?
I mentioned dinner but really just going for the chocolate cake.
Has anyone done this race before? Just wondering if it's flat like NJ? And is the swim with the current?
Swim is fast with the current, water will be warm but should be wetsuit legal. Bike is rolling- not totally flat but no massive hills like Columbia. Run is flat but exposed so it could be tough if high temps hit the forecast and we don't get cloud cover.
I booked a room at the Sheraton yesterday. Though the DC Tri rate is no longer available I was able to save $3/night by telling them I am an AAA member (bling bling). I dont have the card to prove it nor am I am member but I bet they dont call my bluff. My room Saturday cost $126 so compared to DC metro hotels its pretty reasonable. I am going to register for the dinner shortly.
I'm in for the Oly!
I wasn't quick enough to get Pete's room...would anyone else be willing to share? Thanks!
Anyone know if there will be a DC Tri Tent in Philly?
Yes, we'll have the tent in Philly for Sunday's race.
I'm doing the Olympic! Anyone caravanning up there?
I'm doing the olympic.
I don't have extra space in my room, and I would only have space in my car for a person (no bike). I do, however, have a legit AAA membership. If those of you seeking to take advantage of the tremendous $3 AAA hotel discount are required to show proof, I've got your back!
Sooo excited! I have never met any of you but I'm looking forward to the race and the pre-race dinner. Warning - I'm bringing three more super enthus triathletes to dinner plus a couple of cheerleaders to cheer us on (my daughter and her friend).
Looks like the water temp for the Schuylkill River is 82 degrees today.
Here's some sorta good news: Weather.com is predicting air temp to "only" be 91 degrees. Yes, it sounds hot, but DC's temp will be 98 degrees. I'll take the 91!
91! Ugh! Its Jersey all over again!
Anyone racing that wants to buy a women's medium tri top? DC Tri members are the most amazing supporters, so if you don't have any DC Tri swag to sport during the race, this could be your opportunity to make a good race and great race!

Absolutely plan to watch the USA v Ghana match @ 230P on Saturday afternoon. I'm fighting the urge to camp out early at a bar somewhere in downtown Philly... may opt to watch at the hotel bar. The Sheraton we're all staying at is nice and the bar / restaurant area provides an open venue that would work well for watching a world cup match. Just can't remember the tv / sound situation there.
I'm in for the Olympic, headed up Saturday. Anyone watching the US World Cup match?
Based on that website linked above for water temp, they've also moved the water quality rating to red, which I guess means unsuitable for any contact. Super.
Super is right. I suppose the water quality could get slightly better in the next couple of days. But with temperatures being the way we are, are we looking at a tri-turn-duathlon scenario???
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
