WaveOne is holding an open water swim at Lake Anna on Saturday, May 4, 2013. The swim will include buoys and kayak support. It will be proceeded by a ows clinic and followed by a BBQ. This event normally attracts 100+ DCTri members. It is held as part of the PeasantMan lovefest weekend. You don't have to be a participant of PeasantMan to sign up for this. If you are a PeasantMan registrant, you will need to sign up for this since your registration fees do not cover the cost of this event.
This swim is ideal for the following types of people:
1. Those doing Kinetic the following weekend since the swim is in the exact location as Kinetic.
2. Those doing PeasantMan, since the swim is in the exact location as the PeasantMan swim course
3. Newbies looking for opportunities to practice open water swimming in a safe and guarded environment. It will allow newbies to experience what it's like to sight buoys when their eyes are inches from a water surface, surrounded by other swimmers. It will also allow newbies to practice ows in their wetsuits
4. Those training for longer distances. The buoys and kayaks will be out there for 90+ minutes. Folks can log in as many yardage and loop as many times around the course as they would like.
5. Those looking for a social environment to share their passion with fellow club members.
For those looking for more, the organizers of PeasantMan will hold a FREE bike handling clinic a few hours before the swim. PeasantMan will also organize a FREE bike ride around the Kinetic Tri course starting at 8:00 AM. The ride will be range from 26-112 miles. To sign up for the FREE organize bike ride, please email Jay C (jay@enewsi dot com).

NTPs- If Tuan is doing it, definitely worth it as a teaching moment & do what I say not as I do.
I will give a demonstration as how to swim in an alternate universe.
This open water swim is open to everyone, not just folks doing PeasantMan. If you have friends inside/outside of DCTri, bring them along.
Free PeasantMan swim caps for all those in attendance for the ows. Take advantage of this folks! You don't get too many opportunities for ows with folks around you. Buoys and kayak supported swims don't happen often.
Free water bottles for all swimmers! You no longer have to resort to drinking lake water as your hydration strategy!
That sounds great, but early May can be a bit chilly in the water. Will wetsuits be available? Those would make for good practice for races too.
Vegan cupcakes from GTown will be available for munching.
Any news yet about wetsuit rentals?
Bonzai Sports of Fairfax has one of the largest selections of wetsuit rentals in the area as well as online. If you know your size, you can call them up and order up a wetsuit. They will give you a pre-paid envelop to return the wetsuit. It's $35 for everything for one week. If you don't know your size, you can show up at their shop and try on vairious models and sizes. Even if you come to their shop, they'll give you a pre-paid envelop to return the wetsuit so that you don't have to step foot in their store again.
The second option is to contact Julia (firstname.lastname@example.org). DCTri has a limited number of wetsuits that they will lend out for free to any member for any race.
We will put the names of all those who signs up and shows up at the open water swim on Saturday, the day before PeasantMan, into a Vietnamese knockoff iPad (aka vPad). 50 names will be drawn and given one of these high end run visors. Due... to legal obligations with his probation officer, the Freshest Prince of Saigon will not be autographing these visors. However, come talk to him 3 months and 5 days after PeasantMan and we may be able to work something out ... for a large, yet fair amount.
If you haven't sign up the open water swim yet, here's another reason to do so.
